Sumangali Bhava Serial Zee Keralam Coming Soon – Remake of Devathaiyai Kanden

Sumangali Bhava is a Malayalam television serial on Zee Keralam starring Richard Jose and Darshana Das in the lead roles. The psychological thriller is the official Malayalam remake of the Zee Tamil serial Devathaiyai Kanden, which itself was adapted from the Telugu serial Rama Seetha.

Darshana Das, familiar to Malayalam television viewers through Karuthamuthu, plays the female lead, while Richard Jose appears as the male lead. The supporting cast includes several popular Malayalam television and film actors.

Darshana Das was already familiar to Malayalam television audiences through Karuthamuthu, in which she played Gayathri. Sumangali Bhava brought the actress to a Zee Keralam serial in a prominent role.

Jaseela Parveen, who appeared in Sumangali Bhava, later became a contestant on Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 8. The actress, model and former RJ/anchor is also known for Malayalam serials including Thenum Vayambum, Alliyambal, Seetha, Daya and Anuraga Ganam Pole.

Sumangali Bhava – Remake of Devathaiyai Kanden

Sumangali Bhava was adapted from the Zee Tamil television serial Devathaiyai Kanden, which had crossed 400 episodes at the time. The Tamil serial itself was based on the Telugu series Rama Seetha.

The Malayalam adaptation explores a psychological thriller subject, with the relationship between the lead characters at the centre of the storyline.

Director and Production

Sreejith Paleri directed Sumangali Bhava, with Sudeep Karakkat producing the serial under the banner of Amizara Entertainment.

Sreejith Paleri was previously associated with big-screen projects including Priyappetta Naattukare and MLA Mani Patham Classum Gusthiyum before concentrating on television projects.

Zee Keralam was also preparing Pookkalam Varavayi as another serial offering during this period.

Zee Keralam TRP Performance at the Time

At the time this article was originally published, Zee Keralam was gradually strengthening its position in the Malayalam television market. The channel had recorded 112 total points according to the TRP information available with the original update.

Among individual programmes, Chembarathi recorded 1.37, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 1.14, Swathi Nakshathram Chothi 0.84, Kabani 0.77 and Alliyambal 0.66.

Comedy Suraj recorded 0.58, Boeing Boeing 0.46, Aranee Sundari 0.36 and Kuttikurumban 0.17. Kuttikurumban had concluded, with the Malayalam dubbed version of Kumkum Bhagya taking its slot.

These figures represent the historical ratings mentioned when the original Sumangali Bhava update was published, rather than current Zee Keralam ratings.
