Maareesan Streaming on Netflix
Netflix is bringing Maareesan to streaming from August 22, giving audiences an opportunity to watch the Fahadh Faasil-Vadivelu film following its theatrical release.
The movie originally arrived in cinemas on July 25. Its OTT release also expands the reach of the film beyond its original Tamil audience, with streaming available in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
Fahadh Faasil as Dhayalan and Vadivelu as Velayudham Pillai
Fahadh Faasil plays Dhayalan in Maareesan, while Vadivelu portrays Velayudham Pillai. Their characters form the centre of the film’s journey and its changing situations.
Maareesan brought the two actors together again after the Mari Selvaraj-directed Maamannan. In that film, Fahadh Faasil played Rathnavelu, while Vadivelu delivered one of the film’s central performances.
Their reunion became one of the biggest talking points surrounding Maareesan from its initial announcement through its theatrical release.

Along with Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu, the cast includes Kovai Sarala, Vivek Prasanna, Sithara, Renuka, Livingston and P. L. Thenappan, among others.
V. Krishnamurthy wrote the film and also served as its creative director. Yuvan Shankar Raja handled the musical department, while Sudheesh Sankar directed the film.
The movie also includes the remastered version of “Nethu Oruthara”, a song originally composed by Ilaiyaraaja for the 1990 Tamil film Puthu Paatu.

Maareesan holds another distinction as the 98th film produced under R. B. Choudary’s Super Good Films banner.
Super Good Films has been associated with numerous popular South Indian movies over the years, including Poove Unakkaga, Suryavamsam, Thullatha Manamum Thullum, Aanandham and Thirupaachi.
The banner previously collaborated with Maareesan director Sudheesh Sankar on the Malayalam film Villali Veeran.
