Starring Mammootty and Vinayakan in the lead roles, Kalamkaval, directed by Jithin K. Jose, has entered the 50 crore club. The film crossed the 50 crore mark in global gross within four days of its release. Kalamkaval also holds the record for being the fastest Mammootty film to enter the 50 crore club. Kalamkaval is also the first Mammootty film to enter the 50 crore club after Bheeshmaparvam, Kannur Squad, Bhramayugam and Turbo.
Kalamkaval, scripted by Jishnu Sreekumar and Jithin K. Jose, is the seventh film produced under the banner of Mammootty Kampany. The film was distributed in Kerala by Wayfarer Films and overseas distribution was done by Truth Global Films. The film, inspired by the infamous Cyanide Mohan case, is a smashing success by thrilling the audience from start to finish.
The film has received a great response in Kerala and abroad. The film, which is a big success at the box office, has earned over 18.5 crores in Kerala alone in the first four days of its release. Reports indicate that the film, which has surpassed 4 crores in the Rust of India market, has earned around 27 crores from abroad. Kalamkaval is the first film directed by Jithin K Jose, who gained attention for writing the story of the superhit film ‘Kurup’ starring Dulquer Salmaan.
The film, which has Vinayakan as the hero and Mammootty as the antagonist, amazes the audience with their extraordinary performances. While Mammootty shocks with a negative role in his career again, Vinayakan also receives a big applause with his unique performance. The music and high technical quality of the film are attracting the audience. The film, which is receiving great critical acclaim both inside and outside Kerala, is on track to become the biggest success of Mammootty’s career.
Jibin Gopinath, Biju Pappan, Rejisha Vijayan, Gayathri Arun, Malavika and Sruthi Ramachandran are the other prominent stars in the film. The film is distributed in Tamil Nadu by Future Runup Films, which has brought Malayalam films including ‘Loka’. Sithara Entertainments, Lighter Buddha Films and Pen Marudhar have distributed the film in Andhra/Telangana, Karnataka and North India respectively.
