Kalamkaval Enters ₹50 Crore Club
Starring Mammootty and Vinayakan in the central roles, Kalamkaval crossed the ₹50 crore worldwide gross mark within four days.
The achievement made Kalamkaval the fastest Mammootty movie at the time to reach the ₹50 crore milestone.
The opening performance was driven by collections from both the domestic and international markets, with the overseas business making a particularly significant contribution to the worldwide total.
Kalamkaval Kerala Collection
Kerala remained an important market for the film during its opening days.
According to the Kalamkaval collection reports, the movie earned more than ₹18.5 crore from Kerala during its first four days.
The strong home-state performance was accompanied by positive business from markets outside Kerala, helping the film quickly reach the worldwide milestone.
Overseas and Rest of India Collection
Kalamkaval also performed strongly outside Kerala. Reports indicated that the movie collected more than ₹4 crore from the rest of India market during the initial period.
The overseas market contributed approximately ₹27 crore, becoming a major factor in the movie crossing ₹50 crore worldwide within four days.
These figures placed Kalamkaval among the notable Mammootty box-office performers of recent years.
Mammootty and Vinayakan Lead Kalamkaval
One of the major talking points surrounding Kalamkaval was the character dynamic between its two principal performers.
Vinayakan plays SI Jayakrishnan, while Mammootty appears as Stanley Das, taking on a negative character. Their contrasting performances form an important part of the film’s crime-thriller narrative.
The supporting cast includes Jibin Gopinath, Biju Pappan, Rajisha Vijayan, Gayathri Arun, Malavika and Sruthi Ramachandran.
Jithin K. Jose Makes His Directorial Debut
Kalamkaval marks the directorial debut of Jithin K. Jose, who had earlier gained attention as the story writer of the Dulquer Salmaan film Kurup.
Jithin K. Jose and Jishnu Sreekumar jointly wrote the screenplay for Kalamkaval. The movie is the seventh production under the Mammootty Kampany banner.
The film’s narrative draws inspiration from the infamous Cyanide Mohan case, presenting the material through a crime-thriller framework.
Kalamkaval Distribution
Wayfarer Films handled the Kerala distribution of Kalamkaval, while Truth Global Films served as the overseas distribution partner.
Future Runup Films distributed the movie in Tamil Nadu. Sithara Entertainments, Lighter Buddha Films and Pen Marudhar handled distribution across Andhra Pradesh/Telangana, Karnataka and North India respectively.
The wide release across domestic and overseas territories contributed to the film’s strong opening business.
