The pan-Indian film ‘Peddi’, starring Telugu superstar Ram Charan in the lead role, is gearing up for release. The film will hit theaters globally on June 4, 2026. The film, directed by National Award winner Buchi Babu Sana, is being produced by Venkata Sathish Kilaru under the banner of Vriddhi Cinemas. This big-budget film is being presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings.
Now, the words spoken by the film’s production designer Avinash Kolla about the film are gaining attention. Avinash said that this is the first time in his ten-year career that he has been so excited about a story, and after the director narrated the story, he was not himself for about 20 minutes. Avinash Kolla says that this story touched him so much that he decided right away that he had to pay close attention to all aspects of the production design because the story itself had so much power.
Saying that when a set is built for a film, the audience should not recognize it as a set, Avinash added that only then will an art director succeed. For him, he said that the sets built for this film will not be seen as sets by the audience and they are so natural. He said that the film tells a story set in the 70s and 80s, and it presents a story in the Vijayanagaram area. He said that they paid a lot of attention to the design of the streets, the clock tower, the surrounding areas of Vijayanagaram, as well as the wrestling and cricket games, and created a wrestling setup that no one has seen before. The shot where Ram Charan appears with the mace was shot in an underground setup prepared for it.
Avinash and his team created miniatures for each set of the film Peddi, which was in pre-production for over a year. Each set was built on an open ground for this film. They shot the scenes in it completely in natural light. The hill station town required for this was built inside a haunted bungalow in Hyderabad. He also said that there was a great synergy with the director and cinematographer Ratna Velu.
24 newly built sets, in addition to that, about 60 to 70 setups were prepared for the film. The Vijayanagaram set was built for about a year. The set was built in a way that was convenient to shoot whenever needed, and suitable for all weather conditions. The bat used by the hero in this was also a very natural production design. Avinash Kolla explained that Ram Charan liked the sets a lot and that director Sukumar said that in this film, he will be able to see his best performance after Rangasthalam.
Bollywood star Janhvi Kapoor is the heroine of the film. Kannada superstar Shivraj Kumar also plays a crucial role in this film. This is also the first film in which the Ram Charan-Shivraj Kumar team comes together. Bollywood star Divyendu Sharma, Jagapathi Babu, and Boman Irani play other important roles in the film. The film is set to be released as a pan-Indian release.
