Amala, one of the popular Malayalam television serials on Mazhavil Manorama, concluded its television journey with the final episode on Friday, 30 January 2015. Featuring Varada as Amala Narendran (Ammu) in the title role, the family drama had been part of the channel’s weekday serial lineup since June 2013.
The serial originally premiered on 17 June 2013 at 8:00 PM and was later shifted to the 9:00 PM time slot. Following the conclusion of Amala, Mazhavil Manorama launched Dathuputhri in the 9:00 PM slot from Monday, 2 February 2015.
Years after its television finale, viewers can once again revisit Amala, as all episodes of the serial are now streaming free on ManoramaMAX.

Amala Ends Its Run on Mazhavil Manorama
Amala followed the journey of Amala Narendran, a pure-hearted young woman who had to overcome numerous struggles and challenges in her life.
Varada’s portrayal of Amala, also known as Ammu, was at the centre of the serial. The show also featured several familiar Malayalam television actors, including KPAC Saji, Sajan Surya, Jishin Mohan, Kumarakam Raghunath, Beena Antony, Maneesh Krishna, Angel Mariya, Bindhu Ramakrishnan, Subhash Nair and Sabarinath.
Written by Joyce and directed by Rajiv Nedumkandom, the serial remained on Mazhavil Manorama for more than a year and a half before reaching its conclusion in January 2015.
Dathuputhri Replaced Amala at 9:00 PM
The conclusion of Amala also brought a change to Mazhavil Manorama’s prime-time schedule.
Dathuputhri launched on 2 February 2015 at 9:00 PM, taking over the time slot occupied by Amala. At the time, Ente Pennu, Aniyathi and Balamani were among the other serials airing on the channel.
Entertainment programmes including D2 – Idea D4Dance Season 2 and Ugram Ujwalam were also part of Mazhavil Manorama’s programming during this period.

Around the time Amala reached its climax, the channel’s evening lineup included Ennu Swantham Koottukari at 6:30 PM, Ente Pennu at 7:00 PM, Aniyathi at 7:30 PM, Ugram Ujwalam at 8:00 PM, Dathuputhri at 9:00 PM and Balamani at 9:30 PM.
The schedule provides a glimpse of Mazhavil Manorama’s Malayalam entertainment lineup during the period when Amala completed its television run.
