Porus Malayalam Telecast on Surya TV
Surya TV introduced Porus to Kerala television viewers as a Malayalam dubbed historical drama. The show was scheduled in the 9:30 PM prime-time slot.
The original Porus was one of the large-scale historical productions made for Indian television. By the time the Malayalam version arrived on Surya TV, the original series had already completed more than 200 episodes.
Sun Network acquired the South Indian television rights, resulting in the series reaching audiences through its regional channels. The Tamil version was telecast under the title Maveeran.
During a later schedule change, Porus temporarily disappeared from the Surya TV lineup. The information available at that time indicated that the show could resume subsequently.
Story of Porus
Porus presents a large historical canvas involving several kingdoms, rulers and competing political powers.
Paurav Rashtra forms an important part of the story, with characters including King Bamni, Kanishk and Porus. The Macedonian side of the narrative includes King Philip II and Alexander.
The story also incorporates Takshashila, ruled by King Ambhiraj and associated with Ambhikumar, along with Dasyulok and King Arunyak.
Persia or Faras, Bactria and Magadh also form part of the wider narrative, introducing figures such as Darius III, Bessus and Dhananand.
The parallel journeys of Porus and Alexander eventually form one of the central elements of the historical drama.
Laksh Lalwani as Porus
Laksh Lalwani played Purushottam, also known as Puru or Porus, the central character of the television series.
His character represents the Paurav kingdom and stands at the heart of the storyline as the narrative builds towards the conflict involving Alexander.
Porus became one of Laksh Lalwani’s prominent television roles and placed him at the centre of this large-scale historical production.
Rohit Purohit as Alexander the Great
Rohit Purohit played Alexander the Great, another major character in the series.
The show follows Alexander’s world alongside that of Porus, allowing the narrative to develop across Macedonia, Persia and the Indian kingdoms rather than focusing on a single royal family.
The Porus-Alexander storyline became one of the defining features of the series.
Rati Pandey as Anusuya
Rati Pandey played Anusuya, the mother of Porus and an important character in the Paurav Rashtra storyline.
The principal cast also included Aditya Redij, Sameksha and Aman Dhaliwal, with Aman Dhaliwal appearing as Amatya Shivdutt.
A large supporting cast portrayed the numerous kings, queens, warriors and political figures required for the show’s multi-kingdom narrative.
Swastik Productions and Siddharth Kumar Tewary
Porus was produced under the banner of Swastik Productions and created by Siddharth Kumar Tewary.
Siddharth Kumar Tewary and Satyarth Nayak were credited with the screenplay.
The production was widely presented as an ambitious Indian television project, with a reported budget of ₹500 crore. Its elaborate sets, costumes, battle sequences and large ensemble were important elements of the production.
Surya TV Schedule During Porus Telecast
The Surya TV evening schedule during this period included a mixture of Malayalam serials and dubbed programs.
Valsalyam was scheduled at 5:30 PM, followed by Nagakanyaka 3 at 6:00 PM and Mahaganapathi at 6:30 PM. Thenum Vayambum occupied the 7:00 PM slot, with Ennu Swantham Jaani at 7:30 PM.
Chandrakumari aired at 8:00 PM, followed by Lakshmi Stores at 8:30 PM. Nagakanyaka 3 had another slot at 9:00 PM, while Porus was scheduled at 9:30 PM.
Kadhakalkkapuram followed at 10:00 PM, with Ayalathe Sundari at 10:30 PM.
Porus Malayalam Online Episodes
The Malayalam version of Porus had a different rights arrangement from Surya TV’s own original programs.
According to the information available during its telecast, Sun Network held television rights rather than digital streaming rights for Porus. As a result, the Malayalam dubbed episodes were not made available through Sun NXT in the same manner as Surya TV’s regular programs.
This distinction was important for viewers searching for Porus Malayalam episodes online after missing the television broadcast.
Porus – A Historical Drama on Surya TV
Porus added a large-scale historical drama to Surya TV’s Malayalam programming, with Laksh Lalwani as Porus, Rohit Purohit as Alexander and Rati Pandey as Anusuya among its principal attractions.
Its 9:30 PM telecast placed the dubbed series within Surya TV’s prime-time schedule alongside Nagakanyaka 3, Lakshmi Stores, Ennu Swantham Jaani and other programs.
