In a major milestone for Malayalam cinema, Reel World Entertainment’s Chatha Pacha has locked one of the biggest OTT deals in recent years, with Netflix acquiring the streaming rights in a double-digit crore agreement. Significantly, discussions with Netflix began during the pre-release stage itself, which reflects the project’s scale and impact.

Netflix has been notably selective in acquiring Malayalam films, choosing projects that demonstrate strong storytelling, theatrical potential, and pan-Indian appeal. The fact that conversations were initiated well before release signals the platform’s firm belief in both the film and the production house backing it.

The film is backed by Creative Producer Shihan Shoukath and produced by Ritesh & Ramesh S. Ramakrishnan and Shoukath Ali under the banner of Reel World Entertainment. With its impressive theatrical performance and strategic sale of ancillary rights, Chatha Pacha has now crossed a cumulative gross of ₹60 crore+, combining box-office collections and non-theatrical revenues which is an extraordinary achievement for the production house, Reel World Entertainment.

Speaking about the association, Creative Producer Shihan Shoukath said: “Not many people know this, but Netflix was the very first platform I pitched Chatha Pacha to almost two years ago, when it was initially envisioned as an original. As the film grew in scale and ambition, we felt it deserved a theatrical journey first. Throughout that evolution, Netflix remained part of the conversation and closely connected to the project. It’s incredibly satisfying to see things come full circle, with the film ultimately finding its digital home there. With WWE and Netflix now sharing such a strong global association, seeing Chatha Pacha enter that space feels both organic and rewarding.”

Directed by debut filmmaker Adhvaith Nayar, Chatha Pacha features a star-studded cast including Arjun Ashokan, Roshan Mathew, Vishak Nair, and Ishan Shoukath, with Shri Mammootty appearing in a celebrated cameo. With Chatha Pacha, Reel World Entertainment has indeed set new commercial benchmarks.

Following its strong run in Malayalam, the Telugu and Tamil versions of Chatha Pacha have also been receiving enthusiastic responses across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. Chandran’s cinematography, Praveen Prabhakar’s editing, Sanoop Thykkoodam’s screenplay, Mujeeb Majeed’s background score, Vinayak Sasikumar’s lyrics, and Kalai Kingson’s action choreography. The music rights are held by T-Series.
The film is distributed by Dulquer Salman’s Wayfarer Films in Kerala, Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media in Telangana and Hyderabad, PVR INOX Pictures in Tamil Nadu & Karnataka, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions in North India, and Plot Pictures internationally.
