Malayalam cinema had a busy start to 2026 on streaming platforms, with several theatrical releases arriving online during January. SonyLIV, JioHotstar, ZEE5, Prime Video, ManoramaMax and Sun NXT were among the platforms adding Malayalam films to their catalogues during the month.

Among the notable January releases was Kalamkaval, the Mammootty and Vinayakan film directed by Jithin K. Jose, which started streaming on SonyLIV. Other films were added across JioHotstar, ZEE5, Prime Video and ManoramaMax, giving Malayalam movie audiences a wide selection of new OTT titles.

Kalamkaval Streaming on SonyLIV

Kalamkaval started streaming on SonyLIV on January 16, 2026. The film is directed by Jithin K. Jose and produced by Mammootty Kampany, with Mammootty and Vinayakan playing the lead roles.

The screenplay was written by Jishnu Sreekumar and Jithin K. Jose. Following its theatrical release, SonyLIV became the digital streaming destination for the Malayalam film.

JioHotstar continued adding Malayalam movies during January. Sarvam Maya joined the platform on January 30.

ZEE5 Malayalam OTT Releases

Bha Bha Ba was one of the Malayalam additions to ZEE5 in January 2026, with streaming beginning on January 16.

The release added another major streaming platform to the month’s Malayalam OTT lineup alongside SonyLIV, JioHotstar, Prime Video, Sun NXT and ManoramaMax.

Balti OTT Platform Update

Shane Nigam’s Balti had initially been associated with Prime Video during earlier OTT discussions. The streaming situation subsequently changed, with SonyLIV later adding Balti.

ManoramaMax accounted for a significant portion of the Malayalam titles added during January. The month’s releases included Athi Bheekara Kaamukan, Poovu, Pengalila, Memory Plus, Silencer, Sree Ayyappan, Pakal Iravu, Hathane Udaya, Gulab Jamun and Odivangam.

Athi Bheekara Kaamukan started streaming on January 2, while Odivangam arrived on January 30, giving the platform new Malayalam additions throughout the month.

Paathirathri OTT Release

Paathirathri, starring Navya Nair and Soubin Shahir, had been announced for streaming on ManoramaMax.

The film is directed by Ratheena, whose earlier directorial venture was Puzhu. Sunny Wayne and Ann Augustine also appear in important roles.

Dr. K. V. Abdul Nasser and Aashiya Nasser produced the film under the Benzy Productions banner. Shehnad Jalal handled cinematography, Jakes Bejoy composed the music and Sreejith Sarang handled editing.
