SonyLIV’s First Malayalam Original Series
Jai Mahendran marked SonyLIV’s entry into Malayalam Original series after the platform had established original programming in languages including Tamil and Telugu.
The series is centred on Mahendran, a manipulative government officer who believes in getting things done through powerplay and his influence within the system.
Mahendran enjoys considerable freedom within his office, but circumstances begin to change when he becomes a victim of the same powerplay he has been using. His position, methods and beliefs are subsequently challenged.

Saiju Kurup plays Deputy Tahasildar Mahendran, with Suhasini Maniratnam as Tahasildar Shobha and Miya George as Priya Mahendran.
The series also features Suresh Krishna, Johny Antony, Maniyanpilla Raju, Balachandran Chullikkad, Rahul Riji Nair, Vishnu Govindan, Sidhartha Siva, Malavika Manoj, Pauly Valsan, Anand Manmadan, Jeo Baby, Appunni Sasi, Krishnan Balakrishnan, Renjith Sekhar Nair, Zhins Shan, Vinita Venugopal and Abraham Joseph.
Jai Mahendran – Krishna appears as Aravindan, the Tahasildar in charge, Johny Antony plays Chief Minister Chandy Kurian, and Maniyanpilla Raju portrays Revenue Minister Koshy Thomas. Balachandran Chullikkad plays retired Tahasildar Shibu, while Rahul Riji Nair appears as Balu, also known as Balagopal.

Following Jai Mahendran, SonyLIV has continued expanding its Malayalam Original lineup.
The Chronicles of the 4.5 Gang, also known as Sambhavavivaranam Nalara Sangham, is created and directed by Krishand. The series is SonyLIV Malayalam Original. Directed by Anzarulla and written by Harshad, the upcoming series features Lijomol Jose, Arjun Radhakrishnan and Lukman Avaran in lead roles. Its streaming date has not yet been announced.
SonyLIV has also announced Eyes, directed by Manu Ashokan and featuring Dev Mohan, Shruti Ramachandran, Saniya Iyyappan, Nikhila Vimal and Kani Kusruti. Its streaming date is yet to be announced.
Malayalam Movies and Series on SonyLIV
Alongside Original web series, SonyLIV continues to carry Malayalam films on its streaming catalogue. Thuramukham, starring Nivin Pauly, Arjun Ashokan, Joju George and Poornima Indrajith, began streaming on the platform on April 28. Titles including Thalavan and Turbo have also been available on SonyLIV.
With Jai Mahendran establishing the platform’s Malayalam Original series lineup and more projects following it, SonyLIV continues to expand its Malayalam content offering.
