Ugram Ujwalam was a Malayalam talent hunt reality show launched on Mazhavil Manorama for contestants with exceptional and unusual talents. The programme premiered on Monday, 5 January 2015 at 8:00 PM, with episodes airing from Monday to Thursday.

The one-hour programme occupied the 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM slot and featured actor Bala, actress Poornima Indrajith and actor-dancer Sudha Chandran on the judging panel.

Ugram Ujwalam replaced Cinemaa Chirimaa in the 8:00 PM time slot and became part of Mazhavil Manorama’s prime-time entertainment lineup in 2015.

Ugram Ujwalam was designed as a platform for contestants capable of showcasing exceptional talents. Rather than limiting the competition to conventional singing or dancing, the format provided opportunities for participants with different kinds of performance skills.

This broader approach distinguished Ugram Ujwalam from many other Malayalam talent hunt shows of the period.

The programme followed an earlier announcement inviting male and female participants with special talents to submit their details for consideration.

Ugram Ujwalam Judges

The programme brought together three personalities from different areas of the entertainment industry.

Bala, Poornima Indrajith and Sudha Chandran formed the judging panel of Ugram Ujwalam. Their presence added a mix of cinema, television and dance experience to the talent hunt format.

The judges evaluated contestants as they presented their individual talents before the television audience.

Ugram Ujwalam Replaced Cinemaa Chirimaa

The launch also resulted in a change to Mazhavil Manorama‘s weekday schedule. Cinemaa Chirimaa, which had previously occupied the slot, made way for Ugram Ujwalam.

From 5 January 2015, the new talent show was scheduled between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM from Monday to Thursday.

The launch of Ugram Ujwalam came during a period when Mazhavil Manorama had a combination of family serials, reality shows and entertainment programmes in its evening schedule.

Ennu Swantham Koottukari, Ente Pennu, Aniyathi, Amala and Balamani were among the serials airing around this period. Ugram Ujwalam occupied the 8:00 PM entertainment slot, while other shows such as D2 – Idea D4Dance Season 2 were also part of Mazhavil Manorama’s reality-show lineup.

This mix of serials and reality formats formed an important part of the channel’s 2015 programming.

Amala Is Now Streaming Free on ManoramaMAX

One of the serials that aired alongside Ugram Ujwalam in the 2015 schedule was Amala, starring Varada in the title role. The serial concluded its Mazhavil Manorama television run on 30 January 2015.
