Journey Of Theatre: The Myth of Reality to Kazan, Russia
Following his critically acclaimed National Award-winning film Biriyaani, director Sajin Baabu returns with his next, Theatre: The Myth of Reality. The film has already drawn global acclaim with its trailer premiered at Cannes, and now journeys to Kazan, Russia, for a special showcase. At the heart of the film produced by Anjana Talkies is Rima Kallingal, delivering a spellbinding performance. With its blend of artistic vision and powerful performances, the film has quickly emerged as one of the most eagerly awaited titles of the year.
Produced by Anjana Philip and Philip Zackaria under the banner of Anjana Talkies, with Santhosh Kottayi as co-producer, the film blurs the fragile boundaries between myth and reality, deeply rooted in Kerala’s fading traditions and mystical undercurrents.
Theatre: The Myth of Reality will now travel to Kazan, where it has been officially selected to be showcased as part of the cultural program of the TIME: Tatarstan–India Mutual Efficiency Business Forum, scheduled for 8–9 October 2025.
The TIME Forum, designed to foster business, cultural, and diplomatic ties between Tatarstan and India, is hosting a special segment on Indian cinema featuring curated screenings, industry discussions, and cultural exchanges. The inclusion of Theatre: The Myth of Reality reflects the forum’s mission of spotlighting films that combine artistic integrity with cultural resonance.
The cast and crew of the film will also be present in Kazan, participating in discussions and interacting with audiences. In addition, director Sajin Baabu will deliver a special address on “Modern Indian Cinema: Current Trends”, contributing to the forum’s dialogue on cross-cultural artistic exchange. In addition, renowned filmmaker Dr. Biju will also address the forum on the topic “Indian Cinema and Cross-Cultural Storytelling.”
The film is now set for a theatrical release in India on October 16, 2025.
