The film ‘Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil’, which hit the theaters as a Vishu release in the Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval-Kunchacko Boban combo, is receiving a huge response from the audience. Is also the film that Ratheesh Poduval-Kunchacko Boban combo is coming to after the film ‘Nna Thaan Casu Kodu’. Just like the name, the film tells a profound mystery.
The title ‘Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil’ does not just remain a name, but becomes an experience that defines the entire tone of the film. In a word, it is a psychological comedy thriller. But more than that, the film has a strange narrative to tell with mind games and the uncertainty of the situations. The behavior of the characters and the nature of the events all combine to take the audience into a kind of mental maze.

The story unfolds in the backdrop of the village of Tholpatty in Thirunelli, Wayanad. The story is told through the character of Sethu, played by Kunchacko Boban, and also reveals his personal problems. Sethu’s entire world revolves around his bedridden brother Madhu. Although Sethu is a responsible person to the society as a government health worker, in his personal life he is completely dedicated to taking care of his brother. Sethu’s love for Madhu is not just a brotherly bond. It is like a part of Sethu’s life. The absence of his younger brother Marcos, who died, is a truth that Madhu cannot accept. Unable to bear that loss, Madhu’s mind creates an illusion. There Marcos is still alive. In order to keep that illusion from being shattered, Sethu has to occasionally act as Marcos in front of Madhu. The film then shifts from an emotional family relationship to an exciting thriller.
This film Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil has one of the most shocking and perhaps most mature performances of Kunchacko Boban‘s career. Chackochan makes his character shine not only in appearance but also through deep changes in the inner man. Dileesh Pothan’s performance as a bedridden character facing mental challenges is also amazing. The biggest surprise package in the film is Chidambaram, who has turned from a director to an actor. Chidambaram manages to maintain his acting as a very natural screen presence. While the first half proceeds with character revelations and light comedies, the second half presents the audience with emotions and action. The film has all the ingredients of director Ratheesh Balakrishna Poduval, such as humor, social satire, and emotions, in a difficult situation.
The film Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil is also very good technically. The cinematography, which captures the forests and rural areas of Wayanad in frames without losing their naturalness, is completely in tune with the mood of the film. The raw feel of the Thirunelli-Tholpatty areas in particular helps to intensify the mystery of the story. The background score is another major strength of the film. The film is sharp in terms of editing too. It is noteworthy that the director has put his signature here too, like in his other films.
