Mayan Chapter 1 Release Date Announced
The makers of Mayan – Chapter 1 have confirmed December 3, 2026 as the worldwide theatrical release date. The announcement comes as the team confirms the completion of filming.
The movie was shot across Kerala and Russia, with Russia serving as an important overseas filming location. Following the completion of the foreign schedule, the team also wrapped the Kerala portions of the movie.
The release-date announcement and the tagline “Beyond the Shadows” further underline the mysterious atmosphere surrounding the film.
Jithin K. Jose Directs Jayasurya
Mayan marks director Jithin K. Jose’s next project after Kalamkaval, starring Mammootty. For his new film, the director moves into a distinctive mystery-thriller setting with Jayasurya playing the central role.
The screenplay is jointly written by Rafi and Jithin K. Jose.
The film is expected to explore subjects connected with certain centuries-old practices and beliefs in Kerala that are rarely discussed in mainstream society. Jithin K. Jose had earlier indicated that the idea of “Vipareetha Aaradhana” has a connection with the film’s theme.
However, the makers have not confirmed Mayan as a film directly based on “Karuthachan Oottu.” This distinction is important as speculation surrounding the subject has accompanied the film.
Mayan Chapter 1 Cast
Jayasurya leads the cast of Mayan, with Nyla Usha, Vijay Babu, Niranjana Anoop, Jibin Gopinath and Aishwarya Raj appearing in other prominent roles.
The film also reunites Jithin K. Jose with several technicians who were associated with Kalamkaval.
Technical Crew
Faisal Ali handles the cinematography, while Mujeeb Majeed composes the music. Praveen Prabhakar is the editor.

The PRO and digital marketing team includes Vipin Kumar V, Vaisakh C. Vadakkeveedu and Jinu Anilkumar. Sinat Xavier handles the still photography, while Antony Stephen is responsible for the designs.
Beyond the Shadows
The promotional campaign for Mayan uses the tagline “Beyond the Shadows.” The dark and mysterious atmosphere presented through the promotional materials complements the mystery-thriller positioning of the film.
With filming now completed, Mayan – Chapter 1 will arrive in theatres worldwide on December 3, 2026. The combination of Jayasurya in the lead and Jithin K. Jose behind the camera makes the film a notable upcoming Malayalam theatrical release.
