Dulquer Salmaan’s seventh film, “Lokah – Chapter One: Chandra“, produced by Wayfarer Films, continues to grow by earning a global gross of over 275 crores. This is the first time in the history of Malayalam cinema that a film has earned a global gross of over 275 crores. The film, which has become an industry hit in Malayalam, is leading the box office by a huge margin over other all-time top grossers in Malayalam.
The film, which has become a pan-Indian hit, has also made waves in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada languages apart from Malayalam. “Lokah” is also the second Malayalam film to have the highest collection from the Rust of India market. Inspired by the legendary story of Kalliyankat Neely, which is part of Kerala’s history, the film written and directed by Dominic Arun features Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen in the lead roles.
The other day, “Lokah” also became the first Malayalam film to sell 5 million tickets through the online ticket booking app Book My Show. “Lokah” also became the highest-selling Malayalam film on Zomato’s District app. The first part of a five-part fantasy cinematic universe, this big-budget film stars Kalyani and Naslen, along with Chandu Salimkumar, Arun Kurian, Sarath Sabha, Nishant Sagar, and Vijayaraghavan in pivotal roles. Along with them, the guest appearances of Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas also became the highlight of the film.
The film, which has crossed the 100 crore gross mark in Kerala and the Rust of India market, received an unprecedented reception. The film, which collected over Rs 160 crore in India alone, became a milestone in Malayalam cinema with its making excellence that is on par with international films and a presentation style that the audience has never seen before. The film was also released in Kerala as a big hit by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films.
