Asianet Plus Brings Back Popular Malayalam Serial Kumkumapoovu

Popular Malayalam television serial Kumkumapoovu is getting a repeat telecast on the rebranded Asianet Plus channel. The serial airs every Monday to Friday at 9:30 AM.

Kumkumapoovu was one of the most popular Malayalam television serials on Asianet. The series originally aired from 31 January 2011 to 1 February 2014.

The serial was also remade in other languages. The Tamil adaptation, Aval, aired on Star Vijay, while Kumkuma Puvvu aired on Star Maa in Telugu. The Telugu version also received strong TRP ratings.

With the repeat telecast on Asianet Plus, viewers once again get an opportunity to watch Kumkumapoovu on television. Episodes of the serial are also available through Hotstar.

Actors and Characters of Kumkumapoovu

Asha Sarath played the central character, Professor Jayanthi Prabhakaran. The role brought Asha Sarath considerable popularity on Malayalam television, and she later appeared in Malayalam films.

Shelly Kishore played Shalini Rudran, the illegitimate daughter of Professor Jayanthi. The serial also featured several popular television actors, including Sajan Surya, Aswathi, G. K. Pillai and Shanavas Shanu.

Asianet Plus was recently rebranded with a new logo and several new programmes. As per the Malayalam BARC ratings during this period, the channel showed an improvement in its overall points, receiving around 90 points per week. Superhit Malayalam films are also part of the Asianet Plus programming lineup.
