The Story of Peeli
The story begins on the day the festival at Malerikka Church comes to an end. A boat accident occurs in a large backwater, and fishermen rescue an unidentified man from another place. Although his life is saved, his memories of everything that happened before the accident disappear into the depths of the water.
With nowhere else to go, the stranger continues his life around the church premises and in the shadow of the church. As the years pass, circumstances eventually make him the gravedigger of the church cemetery.
Following a theft at the church, he searches for a place where he can sleep peacefully without fearing the police or other people. He finds such a place in a corner of the cemetery.
The man comes to believe that the spirits in the graveyard are the ones who gave him the name Peeli. For him, the cemetery gradually becomes his ancestral home, while those buried beneath the earth become the people he considers his own. Kallara Likhithangal unfolds this distinctive man’s life and his unusual relationship with the world around him.

Sanil Peckal plays the central character in the movie. The supporting cast includes Johnson Stephen, Ambili, Vakkanad Suresh, Glory, Sindhu Jose, Viju C Paravur, Sebastian, Jose Antony, Napoleon, Jose Vavachan, Sukumaran Vengottu, Cleetus, Dr Anugraha Beena Johnson, Shukran, Jerome, Shiji and Moses.
