After hit films like Joseph, Shikar, Vargam, and Vaasthavam that are loved by Malayalam movie lovers, the official first look of the investigation thriller ‘Uyir’ directed by M. Padmakumar, based on real incidents in the life of a police officer named Anshad, has been released. Roshan Mathew plays the lead role in this film and is based on a real incident.
Roshan Mathew plays the role of Sub-Inspector Ajeeb, who is working on probation at Dharmadam Police Station in Kannur district. Produced by Santhosh Trivikram under the banner of Wow Cinemas, the film’s script and dialogues are written by Nikhil K., a popular singer and a favorite of Malayalis in the television industry. Menon and Shaji Marad, the co-writer of ‘Ila Vidha Poonchira’ and a police officer.
Along with Roshan Mathew, Baiju Santhosh is playing a full-length role in the film. Vineeth Thattil, Divya M Nair, Santhosh Trivikram, Shaju Sridhar, Srikanth Murali, Vinod Sagar, Athulya Chandra and Shruti Menon are playing the lead roles. Bollywood’s leading actors Sayami Kher and Mahesh Shetty also appear in guest roles in the film. The film, which was completed in 5 different locations – Coorg, Thalassery, Palakkad, Kochi and Mumbai, will hit the theatres soon.
Ajay David Kachappilly, who is known for films like ‘Porinju Mariam Jose’ and ‘Garudan’, is handling the cinematography. Manikandan Ayyappa is composing the music and background score, while Ranjan Abraham is editing. Apart from Shibu Chakravarthy and Santhosh Varma, ‘Uyiri’ also has the distinction of being joined by Niranjan Bharathi and Umesh Pilikkudelu, who are also fourth-generation descendants of the great poet Subrahmanya Bharathi, as the film’s Tamil and Kannada lyricists respectively.
