Dahaad and the Cyanide Mohan Case
Dahaad attracted particular attention for its crime story, which has similarities to the real-life Cyanide Mohan case.
The series introduces Anand Swarnakar, played by Vijay Varma, relatively early in the narrative. Rather than building the entire mystery around the identity of the suspect, much of the tension comes from the police investigation and how the authorities attempt to uncover the truth and catch him.
Sonakshi Sinha plays police officer Anjali Bhaati, while Gulshan Devaiah appears as Devi Lal Singh and Sohum Shah plays Kailash Parghi.
This investigative structure makes Dahaad an interesting watch for audiences exploring crime stories before Kalamkaval arrives on SonyLIV.
Where to Watch Dahaad Online?
All eight episodes of Dahaad are streaming on Prime Video.
The series is available in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada audio, along with English subtitles, making it accessible to Malayalam viewers interested in the story.
Kalamkaval and Mammootty’s Anti-Hero Role
Kalamkaval, directed by Jithin K. Jose, features Mammootty and Vinayakan in the principal roles. Mammootty’s performance as Stanley Das presents the actor in an unusual anti-hero/negative character, while Vinayakan plays SI Jayakrishnan.
The screenplay is written by Jishnu Sreekumar and Jithin K. Jose, with the film produced by Mammootty Kampany. Mujeeb Majeed composed the music.
The film marked Mammootty’s return to theatres after a gap of around seven months and received considerable attention for his different characterisation.
Kalamkaval OTT Release on SonyLIV
SonyLIV acquired the digital streaming rights of Kalamkaval. The film subsequently started streaming on January 16, 2026, with Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi audio.
For viewers interested in crime narratives involving serial offences and police investigations, Dahaad on Prime Video offers another title to explore alongside Kalamkaval.
