The much-awaited Malayalam action entertainer Athiradi, starring Basil Joseph and Tovino Thomas, is gearing up for its grand theatrical release on May 14. Adding to the excitement, the makers have now confirmed that the film’s OTT streaming partner is SonyLIV , The movie will be available on the platform after completing its theatrical run.
Directed by Arun Anirudhan, Athiradi has already created massive buzz online with its action-packed trailer and viral promotional content. The film is presented as a stylish mass entertainer, with Tovino Thomas reportedly appearing in a powerful negative role. Basil Joseph’s fresh makeover and the suspense surrounding Vineeth Sreenivasan’s character have further increased audience curiosity.
The film also marks the first on-screen collaboration between Basil Joseph, Tovino Thomas, and Vineeth Sreenivasan. Fans are especially excited to see Basil and Tovino reunite after the blockbuster success of Minnal Murali.
Produced under Basil Joseph Entertainments and Doctor Ananthu Entertainments, the screenplay is written by Paulson Skaria and Arun Anirudhan. Filmmaker Sameer Thahir and Tovino Thomas are also attached as co-producers.
Apart from Malayalam, Athiradi will also release in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, aiming for a wider South Indian audience. The songs, teaser, and promotional interviews featuring the cast members have already gone viral on social media, while the film is reportedly receiving excellent pre-booking response from audiences.
