He was born on September 7, 1988 to Rajendran Pillai and Ammini Amma at Kottarakkara in Kollam district. Akhil’s primary education was at Kottayam CFHS and Vendar SVMMVHSS. He then graduated in Mathematics from Fatima Mata College, Kollam.

Made his film debut as an assistant director to director Dr. Biju in the film Perariyathavaar. In 2021, Akhil Marar became an independent director with the film Oru Thathvika Avalokanam. Akhil himself also wrote the story, screenplay and dialogues of the movie Oru Tatvika Anwaram. Akhil Marar Have written a book titled “Avasheshippukal”. The book release was done by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. He has also directed two short films, Lift and Besides.
Oru Thathvika Avalokanam is The Film Directed by Him, Satrring Joju George, Aju Varghese and Shammi Thilakan with Mammukoya, Abhirami, Niranj Maniyanpilla Raju etc in Lead.
