It was a nostalgic and celebratory moment for the audience as two cinematic legends, Mr. Rajinikanth and Dr. M. Mohan Babu, reunited in Chennai to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Telugu blockbuster film Pedarayudu. Released on June 15, 1995, Pedarayudu remains a classic in the history of Telugu cinema.

On the emotional and celebratory day itself, Mr. Rajinikanth along with his family watched Vishnu Manchu’s upcoming magnum opus Kannappa at a special private screening. Kannappa, which is set to release worldwide on June 27, tells the story of one of Lord Shiva’s greatest devotees.
After the screening, Rajinikanth said that Kannappa was magnificent. He was visibly emotional, describing the film as “extraordinary”, and Rajinikanth praised Vishnu’s performance, the film’s spiritual depth, visual richness and emotional core.
Speaking about the moment, Vishnu Manchu shared, “I have been waiting for this embrace from Rajini sir for 22 years. Today, I am not afraid. I cannot stop it. Kannappa is coming.”
As the countdown to the release continues, Rajinikanth’s heartfelt praise has given the entire Kannappa team a lot of confidence. For fans, this moment signifies the passing of the torch from one generation to the next – a day in history that not only celebrates the past (Pedarayudu) but also welcomes the future (Kannappa). Aashirvad Cinemas is bringing the pan-Indian film with a huge star cast including Mohanlal, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Kajal Aggarwal to theaters in Kerala.
