‘Tarpana’ (‘Tarpana’ – A Tale of Reconciliation and Regret) is a Konkani film produced by Veena Devanna Nayak under the banner of Malshi Pictures and directed by Devdas Nayak. Devdas, a B.E. graduate, has also written the story, screenplay, dialogues, song writing and editing of ‘Tarpana‘.
Sanjay Savkar, S.S. Ramnath Nayak from USA, Anuj Nayak, S.S. Raghunath Nayak from Mumbai, Meera Nayampally, S.S. Sudha Nayak from Bengaluru, Madhura Shenoy, S.S. Suvidha Nayak from Mangalore, Jayaprakash Bhatt and A.S. JP from Mulki, Karnataka and more than twenty artists have acted in this film.
‘Tharpana’ is a Konkani film that tells a story of reconciliation and regret that has won many awards and critical acclaim. The strong bond between a father and son is shattered by an unfortunate incident, which leads to conflict and loss of peace in the family. It later turns into a fight and the subsequent developments in their lives are visualized through ‘Tharpana’.
Devdas Nayak entered the field by working in several short films and a Kannada film before his directorial debut ‘Tharpana’. Currently, he is preparing to direct his next venture, a Kannada film. The film was shot in a single schedule of fifteen days.
‘Tharpana’ has already had over ninety screenings in theatres in USA, Canada, Thailand, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and various parts of coastal Karnataka. The first screening in Kerala was held at Saraswat Chamber, Ernakulam Shenoy’s Theatre in early August and received excellent reviews from the audience.
