The release date poster of “Patriot“, which is set to make new history in Malayalam, is out. The poster announcing the release date of the film, which is set to become a major event in Malayalam cinema, was released by more than forty stars. This multi-starrer film, directed by Mahesh Narayanan and starring Malayalam greats Mammootty and Mohanlal in the lead roles, will be released globally on April 23, 2026. Vijay Deverakonda, Atlee, and Karan Johar released the Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi posters of the film respectively.
In Malayalam, Prithviraj, Tovino Thomas, Asif Ali, Unni Mukundan, Basil Joseph, Jayasurya, Sunny Wayne, Nazlan, Nazriya, Keerthy Suresh, and Kalyani Priyadarshan, and about forty stars released the release date poster of the film through social media. The posters of Mammootty and Mohanlal, who play the central characters in the film, along with Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, and Rajeev Menon, were released yesterday. It is also noteworthy that these posters were released with the tag line “Dissent is patriotic, In a world full of traitors, be a Patriot!”.
The film is produced by Anto Joseph and K.G. Anilkumar under the banners of Anto Joseph Film Company and Kichappu Films. C.R. Salim and Subhash George Manuel are co-producing the film under the banners of C.R. Salim Productions and Blue Tigers London. C.V. Sarathi and Rajesh Krishna are the executive producers of the film.

This film, which will see Mammootty and Mohanlal reunite after 17 years, is being made on the biggest budget in Malayalam till date. Patriot was completed earlier this year after more than a year of shooting in more than ten schedules in different countries. This is also the first film to bring together all the leading stars of Malayalam after Twenty20. Apart from Mammootty, Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Rajeev Menon, Revathi, Jinu Joseph, Danish Hussain, Shaheen Siddique, Sanal Aman, Darshan Rajendran, Serene Shihab, and Prakash Belawadi, a theatre artist and director known for Madras Cafe and Pathan, are also in the star cast of the film.
After the films Take Off and Malik, ‘Patriot’ directed by Mahesh Narayanan is being made with a technical standard and canvas reminiscent of international spy thrillers. Patriot now holds the distinction of being the film shot in the most countries in Malayalam. The film was shot in various locations in India, Sri Lanka, the UK, Azerbaijan and the UAE. ‘Patriot’, which began shooting in Sri Lanka in November 2024, was shot in India in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kochi.
The title teaser of the film was released earlier and garnered a lot of attention from the audience. The teaser hinted that the spectacular action scenes of Mammootty and Mohanlal will be the highlight of the film. The teaser also shows that ‘Patriot’ will be a film that will present the legends of Indian cinema, Mammootty and Mohanlal, in all their glory. The film, which is set to hit the theaters with technical excellence that Malayalam cinema has never seen before, has been written by director Mahesh Narayanan himself.
The film, which has music composed by Malayalam’s trend-setter music director Sushin Shyam, has been camera operated by Manush Nandan, who has gained attention for creating visuals for Bollywood’s big superstar films. The film is edited by director Mahesh Narayanan and Rahul Radhakrishnan. Truth Global Films is the overseas partner of the film.
