The Nehru Trophy Boat Race is a vibrant and exciting annual event held in Kerala, India, typically in August. It takes place on the Punnamada Lake in Alappuzha (also known as Alleppey) and is named after Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, who visited the event in 1952.

The race features traditional long boats called “chundan vallams,” which can be over 100 feet long and can accommodate more than a hundred rowers. The competition draws teams from various parts of Kerala, and it’s known for its thrilling atmosphere, cultural festivities, and enthusiastic crowd
