On the auspicious day of  Vishu which heralds the  beginning of the Malayalam New Year, Amrita TV gifts its viewers with a bounty of absorbing  programmes,  to help embark upon a year full of happiness and prosperity.

The major highlight of  Amrita TV’s Vishu festivities this year is the world television premiering of  Valliyangadi, the latest superhit fresh off the box office tills. A tale centered around the sprawling bazaars  of  Kozhikode and   starring Manikuttan, Varada, Kalabhavan Mani etc it will be screened at  9.30 am.

The festivities start at the crack of dawn from the Abhedanandha Ashram with the live telecast at 6.00am  of  the most important ritual of Vishu –the Vishukani, the viewing of the ceremonial arrangement of  propitious items such as gold coins, arecanut, cucumber, rice etc  which will prove fortunate for the months to come.

This will be followed by a special edition of Udayamritham at 7.00p m and  a a special cookery show Ente Vishu at 8.30 am. Njan Gowri asserts erstwhile film star Jomol defiantly at  9.00am, in the 1st interview since her marriage to Chandrasekhar that grabbed headlines at the time. Jomol ,one of the earliest enthusiasts of internet romance  met and dated Pillai online in a courtship that culminated in wedded bliss and conversion of religious beliefs on her part.

In Ayiram Varnavumayi at  1.30 pm Sameera Reddy, familiar to Malayalees as the down-to-earth heroine in Gautam Menon’s superhit  Vaaranam Aayiram, narrates the circumstances that led to her entry into Malayalam films; how Priyadarshan directed her to meet ace script writer Sreenivasan who was so impressed by her that she was cast opposite Mohanlal in Oru Naal Varum; the way she fell in love with the traditional ‘puttu and pazham’ during her shoot schedules etc.

The prestigious Mathrubhumi Amrita film Awards [MAFA] the first film award function to be conducted in this calendar year will be on air at 2pm.

Through Nanmakalude Meda Suryan at  7 pm Tamil heart throb Surya blazing in the high noon of  his career, discloses unknown nuggets of information about himself :, the location of his very first film, Trivandrum is always special to him ; the 1st thing that comes to his mind when he thinks Kerala, is its mouthwatering fish curry; he gets as many female fan calls as his brother Karthik, but is not as good at sustaining conversations etc.
