Sabarimala Pilgrimage is the largest annual pilgrimage in the world with an estimated 50 million devotees visiting every year. Sabarimala is believed to be the place where the Hindu God Ayyappan meditated after killing Mahishi. Sabarimala is located in the Western Ghat mountain ranges of Pathanamthitta District. The devotees of Sabarimala is need to follow the Vratham forthe pilgrimage. Vrutham Starts with wearing of a special Mala ( Rudraksha or Tulasi beads) and This is known as Maalayideel in Malayalam. Vrutham includes avoiding non veg foods, alcohol, tobacco, engaging in sex, etc.

There are Special trains for the devotees to reach Sabarimala, The Nearest Railway Stations are Thiruvalla and Chenganoor. K.S.R.T.C is also scheduling special buses during the Sabarimala Season. There will be chain services from the Chenganoor, Thiruvalla and Nearby Places. Its reported that Indian Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi Likely to Visit Sabarimala Temple This year. Sabarimala Virtual Q Portal Allows Sabarimala Advanced Queue Reservation Management System. The Virtual Queue online booking started for the Mandala Makaravilakku season 2014-15.

Lord Ayyappan, Makara Jyothi, Maalikapurathamma, Mandala Pooja, Harivarasanam, Makara Vilakku, Neyyabhishekam, Aravana payasam and Appam etc are the terms related with Sabarimala. Makara Vilakku 2014 Live telecast will be on all major television channels. All the Major malayalam channels will telecast special programs during the Sabarimala 2014 Pilgrimage. Women between the ages of 10 and 50 are not allowed to enter the sabarimala temple.
