Harichandanam is the story of 2 young girls, Uma and Unnimaya, who , in the midst of rejection and poverty, fights their way through the bitter realities of life.Uma and Unnimaya are the daughters of Pothuval who is a master of the art of Kathakali. Pothuval is both mother and father to Unnimaya, a music student and Uma , who is old enough to be married off, for they are motherless. Uma is just s simple girl behind the scenes, whereas Unnimaya, is courageous enough to face the difficulties of life and become victorious.
Actress Sujitha is very popular for her child role in Poovinu puthiya poothennal. She also appeared in Serials Like Swantham Malootty, Venalkkalam, Kaanaakkinaavu, Sreemahabhagavatham, Devimahathmyam, Pookkalam, Indira, Sangamam etc.
During a temple festival ,a couple of events take place, which changes Unnimaya’s life. The scene takes a bad turn, when Unnimay’s friend Hafiz, takes part in the temple festival creating confrontation with the authorities. At the moment, a young man by the name Mahadevan (payed by Actor Kishor) comes to her rescue. It is then that Unnimaya comes to know that he is the sub-inspector in charge of that place. He takes her to his house and tries to molest her. Somehow she escapes from there.
Unnimaya invites Niranjan, s singer for a programme in her music college. She had the privilege to accompany him for the song which she wrote. Niranjan gets impressed by her song and rewards her with an opportunity to sing for films.Mahadevan lusts for Unni maya even more and tries to ensure her with a marriage proposal, and presents before Pothuval through a Poti. But the marriage is done in a hurry, without following the traditional customs.
Mangalathu Rajeswari Amma, mother of Mahadevan, always holds family status and money as its priority in a marriage , stresses an amount of 501 sovereigns of gold as dowry, because of which Pothuval is forced to sell the house. On the very day itself, Rajeswari Ammam finds that there is a shortage in the dowry, making the beginning of a miserable life for Uma. Mahadevan on the other hand acts as an obedient son and a loving husband.
The battle with the realities of life continues in Harichandanam……..

I have watched the first 2 episodes of the serial. Looks okay. Seems it will take some more time to pickup.

I have watched new serial..but the same time iam very sorry to say that sometimes boring and no contirnuty in this one.. i hpe pick up this one.. 2 days shots in the same place atleast change dress code and uma sometimes boring and over acting...very boring...so we are not discourange u only our feeling pass..
very boring and stupid. you know in India you rarely see women put up with this kind of mens vulgar play.so you can see what american women think about the show. we do cleaning. pray. eat during the show instead of watching it. please change the story or put some brave women like glory,seema to this show and make an end to the crying winey women show.
it is a shame for the auther and the director of the show to cont. the story like this. the show is rude to the women .we Indianwomen are ashamed of the story. shame shame again to the director. If it was done to me or any other women mahadevans samanam would have been chopped off now why unnimaya is not doing it .oh I know stupid director will not let you do it .why unnimaya agreed for this part. shame on unnimaya. where did that thandapadi went leaving the daughter alone. what kind of father is he.why unnimaya agreed to act this part. it is shame for your sister who is a good actress.

finally unnimaya was brave for few minutes and then it disappeared.one thing we noticed the director has no clue what he is doing with the show.the director in his show disrespecting two honarable professions. the police officer and the swami. both should be models to the children and the parents and behave normal.for the first time mahadevan wore his uniform in this show. before that he was tracking stupid unnimaya.why she is not going to the vanitha commition.vishnu is the only normal person in that show. Mr Sreekandan Nair you should screen the shows you show in asianet or really wrap up this show and start a new funny family story to respect the viwers so they can relax and enjoy the show with their families on their free times.also I noticed that there is nothing wrong with ummas hands why cant she feed herself or put the vicks for her husband all he has to do was to pull the chair and sit near her instead of beating her. I am glad vishnu is taking some steps to change the story.another thing is these kind of motherinlaws are out of the house now a days ,not the daughterinlaw.this happened in 18th century
harichandam is the worst serial i hv evr seen.wenevr i see the character mahadevan i feel lyk smashing his nose,nw pls dnt say that it is the success of dat character.wat kind of a story is dis? seeing dis v gt a feeling dat only evil can win... evn d heroine has no voice,though it was supposed to be a heroine oriented serial...
