After the all-time blockbuster hit Manjummal Boys, Chidambaram’s “Balan- The Boy” will release globally on June 19, 2026. The film will hit the screens globally on June 19, 2026. It was earlier reported that the film will premiere at the Cannes International Film Festival this month ahead of its global release. The film will premiere in Cannes on May 14. The film’s marketing screening will be held in Cannes.

The film is being produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fen under the banner of KVN Productions and Thespian Films. The film is written by renowned director Jithu Madhavan.

The makers reveal that ‘Balan the Boy’ tells a story that will appeal to audiences of all ages around the world. They also mentioned that Balan the Boy will offer a cinematic experience that explores the themes of identity, survival, and the enduring bond between a mother and child, backed by a compelling story and a strong and creative vision. The film is set to reach an audience including international film experts with a marketing screening at Cannes.

Apart from Malayalam, the film will also be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada as a pan-Indian release. Chidambaram‘s Balan the Boy is one of the most eagerly awaited Malayalam films of the year.
