Sun network launched their first malayalam gec on 19th October 1998. Surya tv launched it’s high definition version last year (15th March 2017).

They ruled kerala gec for a long term, but now struggled to get a place. As per official reports surya tv re launching soon, as per reports it may happen 2019 May. Prime time shows will be revamp, new serials, reality shows etc will be added to the schedule soon. They bagged the satellite rights of Oru Adaar Love, Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakkeel etc. Now only dubbed malayalam content giving trp to the channel, Naagakanyaka season 3 doing decent job. No other major shows doing any business at trp charts. latest films are the backbone of the channel, we can expect more films through surya tv.
