Idea Star Singer Season 5 grand finale was held recently at Chandrasekharan Niar Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. Several prominent persons from the film industry and socio- cultural spheres were present on the occasion. A galaxy of performers entertained the audience.
Kalpana from Chennai was declared winner of Idea Star Singer Season 5, Mridhula from Kozhikode is the first runner-up, Immanuel from Thiruvananthapuram was declared second runner-up & last but not the least, Antony from Alapuzha and Akhil from Palakadu secured the third & Fourth runners-ups spot in the grand finale.
The jury comprised famous play back singers K.S.Chithra, M.G.Sreekumar , Anuradha Sreeram and music director Sarath. Music Maestro Padmabhushan Dr. K.G.Yesudas, film Stars like Prithwi raj , Ann Augustine , Mithra Kurian, Lakshmi Gopalaswami, Vindhuja Menon, Archana and Asianet Managing Director K.Madhavan added a dash of glamour to the show.
Idea Star Singer season 5 winner Kalpana got one core worth Flat. 15 lakh worth gold is won by first runner up Mridhula. Second runner up Immanuel got 7.5 lakh worth gold. Antony got 5lakhs and Akhil won 2 lakh rupees respectively.

Controversy over Idea star singer season 5 judgement -Case against Asianet?
Various media sources reported that munsif court in TVm has accepted a petition against Asianet, judges and Ganagandarvan K.J Yesudas over the judgement of Idea star singer season 5 grand finale. More details are given below..
A petition has been filed against the channel, judges and singer K J Yesudas. There is also pressure to stop airing the Star Singer Season 6.
A case has bee filed under Civil procedure Code rule 39 (order 1, 2) by N R Hari, a resident of Anayara and M Aravid from Thirumala on September 29. According to the filed petition, the eight accused include, Asianet communications Ltd., Managing Director; Madhavan, Producer Saju David, judges; Sarath, M G Sreekumar, K S Chithra, Anuradha Sreeram and K J Yesudas. The petitioners have complained about the double standards taken by the channel. They have also raised strong criticisms against anchor Ranjini Haridas.
Even though the petitioners have not included Ranjini among the list of accused, they have raised strong accusations about her usage of the Malayalam language. They say that Asianet has gone too far by letting loose the anchor and allow the anchor to use the language in her own way with a view to generate revenue. Even though the show proclaims that the audience will have the final verdict, this is not the case. It is the channel which takes the ultimate decision, says the petitioners.
The finale of Idea Star Singer Season 6 was held on September 24 at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. There were strong reactions against Ranjini’s dress code. The petitioners say that the song by the winner Kalpana was not only atrocious, but unbearable for the listeners. However, after the song, singer K J Yesudas gave a standing ovation to the singer. This prompted the other judges to do the same. They say that this has directly or indirectly affected the final verdict. They also accuse Mr. Yesudas of influencing the judges so that the daughter of his friend wins at the grand event.
The request filed by the disputers claim that the judges took a ridiculous decision when both Mridhula and Emmanuel sang exceptionally well. Meanwhile, Anthony who got the maximum SMS was eliminated in the beginning. This shows incongruities in the judgment of the final winner. The petitioners also say that a new season five grand finale should be held by keeping aside the controversial judges and K J Yesudas. A request has also been sent to stall the airing of the season 6 Star Singer show. On October six the court will hear the case. A summons will be send to all the accused mentioned in the petition.

I have been gone through all comments posted the likes and dislikes what ever they had in their minds.But all are in one mind about the standing ovation has given by 2 judges along with Yesu Das Sir and high appreciation from the great Singer before the declaration of the final verdict.They might have been right in their comments and judgement may also correct.But more than 90% of the public never thought and never agree the final song sung by kalpana is not that much of out standing than the other 2 singers.Though technically they are right,according to the rule and calculation of SMS she was far behind from the other 2 & there was no chance to come in the first position.Every body knows how Antony came in to the final though he was 12 marks behind which was clearly announced by Mr.M.G.Sreekumar.So at least from this season please think before you send SMS to the contestants.Even then you are adict in send SMS please send only to the contestant he or she who sung well and not got the good marks because of the impartiallity from the Judges as we have seen the previous seasons.

Then how about Kalpana was her malayalam perfect? not at allEven MG Annan when he sings kannada song krishna nee begana baaro is not at all perfect even his english ‘voice’ is heard as’oice’.Then one more thing why do you have tamil round hindi rounds. NO REALITY SHOWS in other languages in N India has this
I had high respect for K.J. Yesudas, but now I feel he is no saint. In front of entire media he was putting his influence, so that his friends daughter could win the grand prize. Ask any of those judges, what they know about western music.
First of all Kalpana already being a play back singer should not been allowed to compete with the juniors,other wise ,even people like Chitra could compet there.
If Mr Yesudas was so keen to help Kalpana he could have done it elsewhere .
Ranjini, she is a disgrace & insult to all malayalies & our mother tongue Malayalam, Asianet & other channels should not allow so called anchors to misuse malayalam.
Please do not spoil the purity of malayalam. Ranjini should be kicked out of the show,whom is she trying to impress. Was she not born & educated in Kerala.
I think its high time that Kerala Government should intervene & make sure that the anchors & news readers in all Malayalam channels, are to use malayalam in its pure form without any mixture of english words in it.
Please do not pollute any language, be it english , hindi or Malayalam.
