Amrita TV Gives A Gracious Reception To 2011
It is that time of the year again when we are over powered by bittersweet feelings, as we bid a tearful adieu to a period that is dying into history while looking forward to a future heavy with hope and promises. Amrita TV gets ready to greet 2011 with a posy of programmes spreading over December 31st and January 1st.
As the clock ticks its way to 12 midnight and the hour of parting draws near, Amrita TV gives a standing ovation to the retreating year through a magnificent 4 hour lyrical ode to music director Ouseppachan in Kathodu Kathoram starting from 11.30pm on New Year’s eve. In a hitherto untried format where the Master Composer presents his best compositions, the show places Ouseppachan on centre stage with the playback singers who rendered his songs seated in a semi-circle around him- Sujatha, Vijay Yesudas, Franco, Gayathri, Nimmi etc. As Jayaraj Warrier introduces each song with anecdotes about its genesis, in conversation with the composer and the singers sing it onstage, the viewers get to know the man behind the melody.

Super Hit 2010 at 7.30 am on January 1st carries on the jubilation with a string of the best loved film songs of the departed year. The anchor based programme showcases the clear favourites of the populance whose tunes had captured a million hearts, introduces each song with the reasons why it had become chart busters.
The flourish of programmes to cordially welcome the just born year, goes on with Puthuvalsaravum Yuva Thaarangalum at 8.30 am that drops in at the shoot locale of
V.K Prakash’s latest venture whose star cast boasts of most of the young turks of Malayalam films- Jayasurya, Kunchako Boban, Indrajith, Samvritha Sunil, Ann Augustine etc. Under the stewardship of the director himself, the show captures the frolic and the drollery on the sets, the pranks they play on each other and the antics and tomfoolery that happens when young blood gets together.
Chattambinadu at 9.00 A.M keeps up the spirit through the joyous morning hours of the mint fresh year with Mammootty as a brawny tough as nails goonda, delivering his lines in a Kannada tinted accent, co-starring Laxmi Rai, Suraj Venjaramoodu etc.
The filmy vein continues with Glorious Malayalam Film 2010 at 2pm anchored by Madhupal who does a brisk retrospective through the Mollywood products of 2010, the 92 releases which were a potpourri of mega block busters, spectacular flops and also rans, selects the top ten movies of the year and discusses them with the director, actors and other craftsmen involved in its production.
Raising a toast in salutation to the virgin young year of the new deacade, is Aaghosham a sensational stunner of an event stretching over 3 hours from 3.30pm in the afternoon.
