Paanakkate Ramzan Kazhchakal at 12.00 noon is an epoch making programme, where for the first time in Kerala TV history, a television channel has gained admittance to the hallowed precincts of the Paanakkad House, the seat of the Thangal family, considered as the direct descendants of Prophet Mohammed and the spiritual head of Moslems in Kerala. The show gives an overview of the sights, sounds and festivities of Eid with Panakkate Hyder Ali Thangal playing host to Mr.ET Mohammed Bashir, MP ; Mr. PK Kunjali Kutty former Industries Minister and Dr. MK Muneer, former Minister for Public Works, as they enjoy Islamic art forms like Oppana, a bridal group dance performed on the pre-nuptial night and Mappilappattu, the folk songs of the Muslims of Kerala sung by Eranholi Moosa, the Ustad of the genre.
Ramzan Mubarak at 8.30 am is an exquisite anthology of conventional Muslim songs, the Ghazals, the melodious couplets celebrating the pain of love and the Quwwali , the devotional music of the Sufis. Rendered by famous artistes, these songs have been shot in traditional Muslim households deep in the heart of Malabar to fully capture the ambience of the songs.
In the true spirit of Eid-ul-Fitr, that symbolizes the fellowship of family and friends, the Imam of the Palayam Mosque, Dr.Sahadulla the Managing Director of KIMS Hospital Trivandrum and Padmashree Dr. Vijayaraghavan, former Professor and Head of Cardiology at the Trivandrum Medical Collge partake of a splendid Iftar repast while sharing memories of previous Ramadans in Oru Ramzan Pirapole at 9.00am.
Amina Thatha at 9.30 am is a hilarious skit in which mimicry artiste Abhi stars in and as Amina Thatha, an extraordinary character he has drawn in indelible ink in our memories through his performances on stage and in a film. In the skit, Amina who runs a hotel serves up a sumptuous feat to her ‘regulars’ who drop in during Eid, along with her priceless comments.
Ormakalil Baburaj at 10.00 am is M.Jayachandran’s salutation to the immortal music maestro, M S Baburaj who introduced the strains of Hindustani Music to Malayalam films for the first time. Journeying through his rich repertoire in films such as Pareeksha, Bhargavi Nilayam, Umma, Anweshichu Kandethiyilla, Iruttinte Athmavu etc, Jayachandran selects his most enduring numbers from different ragas, introducing each song in great detail with clippings of the songs underscoring the narration.
Swarnachamaram at 11.30 am is a melodious compilation of Ramzan special film songs. My Favorite Muslim Role at 2.30pm is an anchor based show in which young stars twinkling on the filmy firmament such as Bhavana, Samvritha Sunil etc will discuss the favorite Muslim character they essayed, interspersed by clippings from the relevant movies. The super entertainer ”Don” starring Dileep, Gopika etc will be aired at 3.30pm.
