The grand finale of Idea Star Singer Season 4 was held live on 1st August 2010 at Chandrasekharan Nair stadium , Thiruvananthapuram. Several prominent persons from the film industry and socio- cultural spheres were present on the occasion.
Joby John from Kozhicode was declared winner of Idea Star Singer Season 4 , Sreenath from Palakkadu is the first runner-up, Preethi Warrier from Mumbai was declared second runner-up & last but not the least, Anju Joseph from Kottayam and Vidya Shankar from Chennai secured the third & fourth runners-up spot respectively in the grand finale.
Idea Star Singer Season 4 winner Joby John received villa worth Rs.1 crore sponsored by Travancore Builders ,first runner-up Sreenath received Rs.10 lakhs of Gold sponsored by Josco , Second runner up Preethi Warrier got Rs. 5 lakhs and fourth & firth runners-up Anju Joseph and Vidhya Shankar. received Rs.2 lakhs and 1 lakhs respectively
The winners were selected by eminent jury comprised South India’s most Popular play back singer S.P.balasubramaniam ,Playback singers K.S.Chithra and M.G.Sreekumar and music director Sarath.
Film Stars Kavya Madhavan, Gazal singer Anoop Jalotta, , Asianet Managing Director K.Madhavan, Idea COO Sreeramakrishna , Magician Gopinath and other leading celebrities from the world of film and music added a dash of glamour to the show.
A galaxy of performers entertained the audience.

Every body knows that Idea star Singer is a SMS based reality show. Surely sometimes the participants eliminating on the basis of SMS too.
But Marks also a big part. Even on the elimination round, participants in the danger zone are getting a final chance to become in only depending on their singing wise mark on the elimination round.
But unfortunatelly some good singers like Sikha, Nayana are gone out depending on their marks and SMS too.
But in case of Joby, he is not like sanni or somu. He is a very good singer and also a performer coming from more unfavourable situation.
Many time he sang without any mistakes. That why peole like him very much. Really he is a outstanding singer and performer too. His marks was also very high. But unfortunately at the end rounds he have some problem for his throat. This is the only reason his marks come down in the end rounds and it also affect his confident level and Sreenath bacome Topper in that rounds. Then fortunately in the final stage he recovered from his throat problen to some extent and he sang very well especially ‘Parayan Maranna Paribhavangal…. ‘and also peoples supported him throgh SMS for his singing.
He is not a winner of sympathy. He is really a great singer!!!
Idea Star Singer is a good platform for every contestants who participate this competition. Doesn’t matter who wins or who loose but this is agreat oppurtunity for the junior singers!!!!

joby is a good singer.he desrved the crown.but he has to fine tune his sound for open throat.sreenath was trying to be a hero by imiatating vijay and it was horrible and boring. he even didn’t congratulate joby, which shows he is immatured and jealousy.preethi was also imitating some singers like janakiamma etc.nayana and shikha are good singers.but unfortunately they couldn’t come to the final stage.anju is ok.special thanks to judges.anchor is too boring and several time in season 4 she over acted and made inappropriate comments, which hurt the contestants.she is biased also.asianet has to find some young ,lively popular anchor like rimi tomy for their season 5 star singer programme.

Joby deserved it.the sms shows how all amalayalees like him.Joby has to improve his low register.nayana is a good singer.but she has to improve.vidya is a polite guy.preethi and sreenath are imtatating other singers.sreenath has to understand that keralites won’t tolerate cine heros imitations on the stage of singing competition.the anchor should not be biased.she was always with preethi and sreenath.some comments she made about joby was improper.it’s better to have a lively,smart,talented and popular singer like rimi tomy as an anchor for asia net.theh definitely their season 5 will have more audience.Jyotsna is also ok for this type of show.

So Asianet thought of going for a damage control excercise. They brought back Joby in yesterday’s episode to make people understand that Joby was after all not a bad singer like people opinioned. I am sure they must have pre-recorded Joby’s voice and modulated/corrected ( there are lot of software which does this) all the out of pitch notes to make him look like a real good singer. What an effort!! Whatever you do Asianet, for us Sreenath is the winner. I am so disgusted that now I don’t even feel like watching the star singer.
Let us stop this argument in judging ourselves the real singer, Joby or Sreenath.
Let us leave this judgment to the flow of time .Down two to three years if both of them pursue their singing lessons, then their talent alone will make them stay afloat. That point none will enjoy a song just because it was sung by their today’s favorite
Ultimately it would be their talent alone i.e. their voice and Sangathi or Shruthi and Melody and depth in their voice, which would tell us who shold have been the real winner in the star Singer Season 4. Then the public would realize whether there current judgment was wrong or not. In the Religion of Music, there is no place for Fanaticism, Communism, Castism, Capitalism, Compassion or Coldness.
However, it would have been better if the disparity of price money between winners and losers were reduced considerably that it would become helping hand to all of them to grow further. When the talent between competitors itself is wafer thin , why there should be such huge difference in price Money .Let the price money help talents singers to grow and not to make them abrupt rich.
Another Suggestion : Let Kerala Channels do not confine to create Signers alone. A small state and so many singers! There are other fields to find talent other tan singing talent alone. Let them start Quiz or competition of international standards, on Computer Skills, Elocution, Extempore speech, GK or Managements or the like which will help our state in many ways.

if he is not a good singer he would never win the show.probably you may not know that Ranjini,sarath and M G were supporting sreenath much and was trying to put joby down,but THE GOD did not let it happen.JOBY REALLY DESERVE THE CROWN.you sreenath fans,go to hell.
Mini, I had not shown my rant after Joby had won. I had only showed it after they brought Joby back to the show to prove that people who felt sreenath should have won were wrong.. Joby had won and people commented on various aspects. But why should the channel try to clarify things. Even the last year’s star singer as per me was not the right choice if weighed in terms of talent only. But ultimately the one on whom lady luck smiles, wins.. That is the format of the show. If Asianet had shown that marks wise sreenath or Preethi were ahead of Joby, but due to SMS he won. Fine with me.. Mind you, I never sent a single SMS for anyone, so don’t call me a sreenath fan.

Why do you say that Asianet modulate Joby’s voice to eliminate out of pitch notes. This is another “Big blunder” since you are a Sreenath fan. You can say anything, but the reality only god knows. So many NONSENSE COMMENTS posted by you and some of your friends about Joby. Please stop all these NONSENSE COMMENTS and listen to the facts that Asianet disclosed so many time. Sreenath is way below than Joby as a singer, but as a mimicry artist he is the best. Do you think Sreenath deserve a win,noway. Preethy and Anju sing better than Sreenath.

After the first two songs, Preethy got highest, then sreenath and third position was Joby.After the challenge song which Joby got 95 so he got 279 and Sreenath got 253, Preethy had 249. Dont you look at the difference and see who won. SMS is another factor(only 5%). But Joby won not because of SMS, it is because of his TALENT. Since Joby won, Asianet didnt disclose the marks at the end. It was the mistake that Asianet made.That is why Sreekandan Nair explained in MAILBOX about the Star singer marks
I did not think of writing my comments about the decision on ISS Season 4 Final till Friday when Ranjini displayed the marks of each contestant secured. But now I wish to write.
I am from Mumbai and we viewers of Asianet all over the world were anxiously seeing each stage of ISS. But we all (majority of people) were disappointed by the final decision taken by the Judges. Though Joby was performed well, but not upto the level of Sreenath through out the Season. This is a fact that all are aware. My suggestion is only ONE VOTE from ONE MOBILE No. should be taken as valid while considering SMS. This will understand upto some extent about the opinion of viewers of all over the world. The decision which was taken by the Judges in the Final of Season 4 will certainly affect the rating of ISS Season 5. I do not wish to say much more on this……………………….

some people are really jelous and cannot accept the fact that joby won,could be from certain personal grudjus.no one can reach the final stage of iss,if he or she does not deserve it.the judges will find ways to eliminate him.neither somu nor sunny reached the final stage.
if sympathy is a factor,there were many other candidates who really deserved sympothy,than joby.i do not think,5.5 lack people from kerala are fools.try to accept that factor.

It was really GREAT and Joby is the WINNER. His singing used to give a vibration, Why we dont know.
But I felt, the 2nd should have been to Preethi, 3rd to Anju, 4th to Vidhya and Seenath should have been to 5th only.

few sugestions to asianet
1.price money differance is huge,please try and make it equal among winners
2.please dont reveal peoples background until the competition is over,we are looking at candidates talents not their living conditions.
3.i was a constant observer of this program and noticed few comments of rengini about jobis background was humiliating and demoralising.we dont need to know wether he is poor or rich we only need to know is he rich in music?
also i agree with few people who commented about anchor was shouting and screeming during finale,please be carefull renjini.
one last thing sreenath could have congratulated jobi .congrats to all other winners too.we love music so we love u too.
There is something fishy in this whole episode of I.S.S.Season 4.
Any of the other 4 finalists were miles ahead in voice quality,rendering & performance
In fact, there were plenty of contestants that were dropped in the previous lower rounds that were more deserving than Joby.The voice of Joby was very much strained & husky for many previous episodes including the finals.As this was a reality show, this is enough reason to be sent out. But he was merrily continuing. It would be a real surprise if he got a chance in future to singfor a recording with a voice like that . Two of the judges are currently composers & have offered to give opportunities to various contestants that were outgoing in recognition of their caliber( including the semifinalist Nayana Nair who has already sung in a film each for MG.Srikumar & Sharath).Joby was on various occacions in the danger zone whereas the 2nd placed contestant Srinath was never in the danger zone. Srinath was regularly on top & mostly in the 1st place.Upon hearing the announced final result ,Srinath’s stunned face with disbelief written all over it is the correct description of the whole show.The body language of all the judges & invited greats like SPBalasubramanium, Usha Udup & Pankaj Udhas were that of disappointment & dejection. They are not actors my friends.Joby’s SMS leaped 3 fold in the finals in a performance that does not justify it. Eventhe marks given by the very learned & capable judges does not vary like this.Even after the result declaration , except for one judge(MG.Srikumar, whose comment was sounding rather sarcastic,vague & a lot more) no other judge or invited greats like SP Balasubramanium, Usha Udup & Pankaj Udhas stated that the win had gone to a deserving contestant :- JOBY .Sponsors are always welcome.However , the value of the gifts are so high that there is a possibility for manipulations.One can find many Stalwarts in the music Industry(past & present) that have nor amassed this high a wealth even in their whole lifetime.I wonder if any one in the judging panel has earned a crore so far
There is a enough ground to carry out an enquiry into the whole affair. There was somebody’s hand/s behind this & it definitly was not God’s, more so because of the recall of Joby to a facesaving explanation in season 5.As also in the finals the judges still did not comment & the bubbly Ranjini too was quite unconvincing.
It is all a terrible shame in the name of music.The judges are all established for their caliber & should dis-associate themselves from the show

It is incredible that malayalees can throw crores of money to a show like this but not a single paisa to the unfortunate living alongside us. Even Asianet has never announced any percentage of the proceeds to the less fortunate. The reality is that we are being made the fools. Fellow malayalees, please look around you & the next time you decide to vote in a contestant, think of those tiny outstreached hands hoping for a single meal. If asianet were to give at least 1/2 of the proceeds from the sms votes to the less fortunate, then you are also making a difference when you vote.
I also like to say congrats to Jobby, bt i also want to say as the majority said here,i dont think that Jobby deserve the 1st possition,I respect all judges especially Sharth Sir, bt I think the business behind this program doesnt allow them to judge the songs proper way,the method of judging also wrong according to me, here judges just follow the comments who said first they cant say even a single word opposition to the previous judge,plzz make it as a realty show

Joby Yuor parayan marannu was superb. After Iread all these criticism I go back to hear your initial episoded and judges commets. your Ya ali, Jomm barabar, kochirajavu, latest hits, etc was superb… I know that in the last rounds you got low marks and due to that your confidence level reduced but you have done hard work and won the prize.
Sreenath, you were also superb except sumuhoorthamayi, Iknow that your confident level reduced little bit and it effected in the song, don’t worry, you already prove that you are a good, versatile singer.
