The fifth season of the South India’s most popular musical reality Idea Star Singer to find the most talented singer begins this Monday ( August 2nd , 2010) at 8PM.
The new season inaugurated by jury members – music director Sarath, play back singers K.S.Chithra , M.G.Sreekumar & Pop Singer Usha Uthup in the presence of actress Bhama, who heralded the occasion by stumbling the thampuru. This edition will have thirty-nine contestants from across Kerala vying for the top spot. The audition was conducted in all major cities in Kerala and abroad.
Apart from the jury members, prominent personalities from film industry will attend as celebrity guest.
The title winner will receive villa worth Rs. 1 Core.
Asianet is all set to telecast “ Idea Star Singer Season 5 ” on every Monday to Friday, starting from 2nd August 2010 from 8.00 PM to 9.30PM.

There perment terms she is using like out of pitch, upper note, lower note, out of breath, mic control through out her judgement. The whole show is going for a toss. Idea Star Singer is roping in serial actors and celebrity actors to run the show. It is just a “SHOW” with no real singing talents other than a handful of three singers, the rest all zombies and commalies and that to a playback singer competing. Is this is a reality show or business show. God only knows the truth of what is happening behind this show. Added to that a bunch of “LUNATIC JUDGES” making sarcastic comments on singers making jokes, indecent remarks and a Kelavi called Renjeni (Horrible)das. Shows like these have made views addicted like pornsites, drug addict, cigarette smoking, and alcohol.

I would like to put to your notice a few of my observations.
As this programme is widely viewed by many people all over the world , mostly malayalees, you have to focus on keeping quality. Mainly quality seems to be dipping in terms of the comments given by specifically two judges- MG and sharath. They are highly sarcastic. They cannot make silly and very malayalee comments . This is a problem with mals – no respect for others . If they are younger to u then who bothers. And above all that if u are popular and famous you are excused for making any vulgar and jeering remarks. The only judges who are keeping their dignity are chithra and Usha Uthap when she was a judge.
Your popularity is at its peak and u have to be realistic that it can only come down now. So don’t try anything silly and too dramatic and lose the quality. Just maiantain dignity and continue like u were towards the latter half of the previous season . The rooad show and stuff is nonsense and cheap. Keep ur class .
In the last episode Mridula’s performance was really disappointing. Probably she is losing her confidence level while on stage.Siju kumar deserved at least 23 marks each from both the male judges in spite of the fact that he was given 10 marks by the CJ!

Yesterday 15-11-2010 i saw the the singer and when the fat lady (Kalpana) sang the song, the Greatest Singer of the world Chithra told that she hasnt written any mistake in the paper and showed it to her. Obviously a playback singer should not have any mistakes what bullshit remark is that Chithra making. She has to sing to perfection which any playback contestant should sing, or else she would not have sung 100 songs in Cinema and above all is that she praised Sarath when singing along with Yethu Krishna, whereas that Chitra did not have any courtesy or appreciation to remark a single word on Rengith Raj, what a shit of a judge is that Chitra. Does not she have a decency. Not only she, but also the other two judges MG and Sharat. I think it might be an order from someone above them that they have to praise that fat lady (Kalpana)and ignore Renjith Raj.

It is appalling to see vitriolic and venomous comments appearing on this blog about a non-malayali girl participating on the ISS 5 show.I for one am unable to understand why we keralites have so much hatred towards non-malayalees.Keralites are known for their intelligence and hardworking nature in every sphere of activity anywhere in the world and they deservedly win laurels and acclaim. If one kalpana takes part in a malayalam channel reality show along with malayalees is the heaven going to fall? One should rather appreciate that a tamil girl is taking too much effort and courage to learn the difficult malayalam language so well that she has the courage of confidence to compete with the best amongst the contestants and win laurels. I salute her courage of conviction as rightly Shri MG Srikumar did in one of her unforgettable performances in the show. That should be the spirit of every viewer in a reality show and not spilling venom! The girl has entered the show as per the rules of ISS 5 and no one can stop her or discriminate against such non-malayalee participants. Some of them may have participated in some other shows or even in playback singing at some point of time. That is no reason to disqualify a contestant. If this girl is not good enough in the show she would be automatically out one day to the relief of intolerable persons. We are watching not the colour or creed or religion or region of a contestant but only what he or she is presenting on the big asianet stage of ISS 5. Best of luck asianet.
The situation is not here about a malayalee, telugu, or tamil, it is the utmost importance given to only one singer, the judges showing more consideration. It is also a fact that her father is a playback composer, and these judges need some hand for themselves. When truth is written some lunatics dont like it, that is the reason. Just viewing and listening is not an entertainment, in that a good judgment and remarks should also be made by the judges. Or else it is not a reality show it is delusionality show, please understand that.
I too felt that Renjith was deliberately ignored….when all others who supported the singers were acknowledged by the judges (which, by the way, is good manners) it was pretty obvious that all the judges decided to ignore Renjith….not a word of thanks for supporting…praise was showered on the others who came from the same serial…life is not always fair and the judges may have their reasons or some pressure from whatever source but a simple “thanks” was just good etiquette & it reflects very badly on them…

The singers are like ocean, their depth of knowledge in song is as sea, the same way the idea star singer judges can be termed as follows,
Sharat = Bay of Bengal
MG Sreekumar = Arabian Sea
KS Chitra = Indian Ocean
Oceans provide life support for living things, but nowadays these oceans are polluted by chemical toxins, waste materials, and as a result these have become infected and are killing organisms, likewise these JUDGES are totally polluted by someone above them, that they are helpless people, in short nothing but pawns. They have lost judgement in thought, clarity, and above all these judges are showing Bias. My sincere request is to provide good singers the right judgment without getting polluted ur mind from external sources, if so then u people are spoiling the skills and talent of good singers

It does not take a keen analyst to see that the three judges of the reality show are being partial, especially where Kalpana the contestant is concerned. In fact, from their demeanor, the judges appear to be afraid of passing a single remark that might offend Kalpana, unlike the treatment accorded to the other equally, or more than equally talented contestants. The judges seem always over-courteous to her, with an affixed smile ever present, when commenting on her rendition. Kalpana is not a flawless singer. Her rendition of a KJ Yesudas song was way beyond average, even to the ears of a layman listener like me. And yet, the judges had only praises for her. Are the other contestants not up to the mark? Judges should be impartial, and not be hampered by fear, whatever the reason. Remember, the greatest singer in India today is KJY. With such qualities brazenly spilling from the judges, KJY would decline outright to even attend as a guest-of-honour.

Who will be contesting in Idea star singer season 6 Chitra, MG Sreekumar and Sharath. Please reserve ISS 6 exclusively for playback singers so that others need not take the trouble of participating and losing, thanks to the advantageous position the participants who are already into playback singing, like Kalpana are enjoying. Topping the herd at the end of almost every stage thereby putting the other contestants in a discouraged state of mind. Please note that this is definitely not an anti non Malayali feeling. She definitely has got an edge, having sung in films for a long time. It is for sure that Kalpana is going to be the winner of ISS 5.I have watched all previous ISS seasons but I do not feel like watching ISS 5. hello the three judges you are not the top most singers and music directors in kerala. dont try to make fool the total viewers. this week the last elimanation what you people are did. you cheat teh girl nimisha and tried to cheat like us the few viewers. i am writin gthese for more than 100 peoples from our labour camp in saudia arabia. when you ask the question to nithin what ever he sung it ok. but after it was nimishas turn- questio by chitra. and again with out rest and gap sarath given very hard question to nimisha. it supposed to be asked with nithin and then nimisha. if nithin is okay you decided to give wild card to him give it. but why there is the formality to nimisha. the people are more smart than the people in kerala. dont forget this thing.
and one mor eimportant thing. her i dont remember. the girs is from tvm as she says the great beleiever of srikrishna lord. pls rewind the video of that day. what sarath said is her song was not so good and she sung as she like as a composer. at last without a word ask her to move from danger zone. at least to say some word. the song was nice or bad. this is not the first time you people are making us fools. the way jobi got first prize. shame for alll keralite. ok thank you
During a recent Sarigama programme,M G Sreekumar asked Shikha and Nayana whether there was any politics in Idea Star Singer. The girls maintained a diplomatic silence. Of course, Sreekumar would be bothered because he knows there is politics in ISS. And how!
Last year, during the season 4 of ISS, the elimination of Sreelakshmi is a concrete example. I have followed Sreelakshmi’s career. She had appeared for two seasons in Gandharva Sangeetham before qualifying for ISS. At the beginning of the competition, K S Chitra had said that she had a good future. In fact, she was one of the best performers in ISS 4. Compare her singing of ‘paadi’ from ‘aram thampuran’ with that of Anju Joseph’s rendering of the same song in the mega final. Anju had admitted that she considered Sreelaksmi a better singer and that she was sad when she got eliminated.
But they, the eminent judges, one of whom had won six national awards, booted her out without any pangs of conscience. If she had got eliminated for incompetence there would have been no complaints.
The facts speak for themselves. Till Sreelakshmi reached 7th round, she did not have the “distinction” of “qualifying” for the danger zone. Whereas Manjusha had the distinction, I believe, three times. She was there in the danger zone with Sreelakshmi and got selected to go to the next round. Even in the danger zone, Sreelakshmi sang so well that two-time national award winner Sreekumar said that he could find only a few mistakes.
Among the eight candidates in the danger zone Sreelakshmi had the highest mark of 252 and the last candidate with three dismal performances had only 237 marks, a difference of 15 marks. You would understand the importance of a single mark when you realize that three candidates just above Sreeelakshmi had 253 marks and escaped the danger zone, only one mark more than Sreelakshmi. Yet, in spite of everything Sreelakshmi was shown the door and the candidate with the least marks of 237 was promoted to the next round. Of course, ISS will tot up many excuses. Obviously, ISS has other considerations other than merit.
Is Idea Star Singer a singing competition or a cinematic dance competition? The judges have been getting carried away by the performance of Kalpana and awarding her marks not for singing but for her performance. This is very regretful.
In no way she deserves 94 marks for her singing on the 30th of December. She may deserve it for her performance but definitely not for her singing which is as good or bad as the singing of any other candidate. The second best singer in the 5th round got only 89. Kalpana is not that better than any other singer.
As for M G Sreekumar’s remark about Kalpana’s performance being better than the shows on the Broadway, obviously he has not been to Las Vegas.
With the latest Western song (albeit composed by A R Rahman) by Kalpana, donning a gaudy outfit, on a channel dedicated to Malayalam, or at least Indian, classics (however modern), and receiving a standing ovation from the eminent judges, I have decided to unsubcribe to Asianet altogether henceforth. Did she deserve the accolades? Did she deserve those astronomical marks? M G Sreekumar said he has not seen such comparable performance even in New Jersey! Ridiculous remark. I have enough western musical channels to watch here. I was looking forward to Malayalam/Indian music, modern they may be, but INDIAN IN NATURE AND LANGUAGE. Not some obese lady prancing on stage with an English song. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Goodbye AsiaNet. I have seen the last of you, and your partial, tremulous judges, who defer with fear.
Rename the show The Idea Star Ass rolling. Singing has taken a back seat. No place for Mridulas, Athiras, Shilpas, Emmanuels, Zias.
Please keep a box of tissue papers on the desk of the sentimental judges who split hairs while judging the singing of others and then show up a sheet of blank paper to display that they were fooled and blindfolded by the tomfoolery called performance and forgot that they were there to judge the singing ability. Mridula’s performance yesterday was disappointing. I expected she would score so as to maintain her lead at the top position in the 5th stage. Alas! it must have put pressure on her singing to slip into a mediocre performance.Best of luck to mridula.
Kalpana’s theme in the devotional round was really superb and she deserved to score high marks. Her confidence level is on the ascent and with such mind boggling performace I think she has no real rival in the competition to win the top position in the final. I enjoyed the show very much. Unfortunately, there is no male singer who is so consistent in the show to reach the final stage as seen from the quality of their performace so far. Best of luck contestants.
Mr pushpakaran if u have a singer like Kalpana then obviously there would not be any rivals since she is well established playback singer. Asianet is purposely making her a clear winner of Idea star singer 5. I think u must be a Tamilian u encourage her a lot, u must also have a sense that all well established playback singers sing well with good dynamics and diction so do not comment on these things. Idea Singers of season 5 seem to found their groove at last. The last two performances of the 5th stage by Emmanuel and Antony were the kind we expected from this bunch. Till now,they failed to live up to the expectations that we had in them judging by their display during the road show.
Antony, I have no words to describe your singing and dancing. Take care not to be over confident. Emmanuel, simply superb. Though the marks did not justify your valiant efforts. Do not be too disappointed.
Singers of season 5, it is time you pulled up your socks and give the best in you. Your best is yet to come.

i agree with all the comments the viewers have put up here. but the show does not respect the opinion of the viewers. and y should they right? the play back singer, the fatso Kalpana, should be rightly evicted(thrown out) from the show and perform rather in front of music composers , not compete with amatuers.the host should be asked not to open her mouth like a hippopotamus. its disgusting with all her pseudo demeanours. i was surprised to see silly acting from an esteemed judge like Sree Chitra. May be she cant digest the competition coming her way from our new breed of play back singers. crying like a baby in front of the camera was completely artificial and showed her true nature. our christian composers should now have enough reasons to be wary of her than to take her in from her antics. its high time some body take things into their hands and teach these stupid foursome a lesson or too about right judgement and right action.

Kalpana is one of the best contestants of Idea Star Singer Season 5. It is better to avoid any unwanted comments against her. We must respect all contestants of this program.
Now ISS team is trying to make all their viewers fools. ISS team is thinking this is the only real and good reality show. Their only target is making money. all the viewers know very well that the contestants r facing various type of mental pressure from the team.please go thru the 7th stage[comments against Sai Balan ] ok i am agreeing that he made many mistakes. for those mistakes he faced unfair comments from the judges. think about MG’s indecent comment.and after that all the judges gave 25 marks each just b’cos he decided to quit. one think is sure that this team is trying to mentally harass the contestants.

I am living in mumbai for the last 10 years and an keen watcher for the asianet programms, now a days for increasing the TRP ratings asianet is making its programs a torchure, some good serials has to be aired please dont bring into unimaginable stories etc… and for the idea star singer it has to be modified a much more keenly. some of the costumes of ranjini has to be kept apart, and do please dont introduce those filim promotions inbetween. like the china town etc…. though the give 4 lacs , it has to be apart , since its has its own value and style , and sooner a season ends wait for a gap to start another ,thats a suggestions , and like wise in mumbai the viewers for idea star singer is reducing …..

Dear Aisanet, if you do Season 6, it should be with new faces in all aspects including RANJINI.
Idea star singer will lose its viewers just because of the dramas and idiotic performances played by some of the contestants and the judges comments. Preference of this show should be for singing and not for dramas. Performances should be done while singing. The judges have been getting carried away by the performance of Kalpana and awarding her marks that she does not deserve. She in no way deserves that marks for her singing. No other contestants were seen using a collar mike other than Kalpana. Other well singing contestants like Mridula and Immanuel doesn’t get the marks they deserve. Sarat is so partial that he gave Immanuel only 25 for his stunning performance while MGS and Vaniyamma give him 27. The judges should just tell the marks right away instead of making everyone wait till the end of show. The viewers are made fools by making adjustments in the marks.

Iam a regular watch of Idea star singer the only programme after hertick tension in office get relax us in the night.by watching Asia net is encourage the young talent singer it good to watch..In south only two television channel contacting the programme in very good manner one is Asianet and other is Vijay TV.

I request sincerely ” THE JUDGES ” to treat all the singers equally. The Judges are highly talented and they are doing the job with great professional touch, “But” they are too polite, soft and shows some kind of respect to some of the contestants and others, they make fun of them. This is a fact and it is very obvious on watching the judgement part. This spoils the transparency of the “SHOW” and it has been pointed out in the earlier comments also.

what was wrong with their singing, before the 10th elimination, why jyohti only got 6 marks from anuradha. i was expecting a much more better judging for jyothi from anuradha. because i have seen her in G-sangeetham.the same time anuradha gave kalpana a 10, why, what was so miraculous in her performance. actually jyothi and immanuel were better that day.
jyothi is a better singer than babu i can bet that, any kind of song he can sing,i am betting this to you both sarath and mgs , jyothi will be far better than you both are, in his life.GOD WILL GIVE TO HIM.If you are alive watch it , and be sorry for what you did for these contestants .you will payback for this.
why did mridulla got 27 marks today and the rest of them even 24.
if it is pressure from asianet people ,go do some other work, other than doing the wrong and miserable job.

Asianet Star Singer Season 5.
This is for the Attention of senior Managers of Asianet Star Singer.
The viewers assume that this show is for young budding singers of Kerala Origin. Once a person perform in any professional forum they become professionals and they should not be selected for this programme. In season 5 this lady Kalpana is a professional and must be disqualified from this programme. We just don’t understand why so much being praised about her singing and so much score is trust upon her which she does not deserve. She should find a place in some Tamil movie where she may do a better job. Judges should also keep in mind that this is a programme to show their ability in singing and NOT for acting. The judges are demoralising the other contestants by showing so much partiality. Please be fair and encourage deserving contestants.
PLEASE DO REMEMBER THERE ARE MANY OTHER SHOWS IN OTHER CHANNELS WHERE ONE CAN PERFORM LIKE KALPANA IS DOING.
HOPE MANAGEMENT AND JUDGES WILL LOOK INTO THE MATTER.

Are Mridula and Akhil, and formerly Kalpana, the sensational finds of the Malayalam music world? The judges seem to have found a paragon of perfection in Mridula and reluctantly REDUCE marks from her. They seem to be scared to find anything wrong in her singing and even if they find any shortcomings, they point them out to her so politely and apologetically as if fearful of hurting her feelings and give the impression that they are negligible. She is just another good singer, nothing so exceptional. Tomorrow, the same judges will call a Athira or Shikha to sing in their movies.
The judges have become so unpredictable in the 12th round. There words do not match the marks they give. They could praise a singer to the skies and then give average marks. Anuradha is a loose cannon. With the exception of awarding Mridula, we just don’t know what to expect from her, it could be a 28 or a 21. It is regrettable that the judges are behaving like this at this stage when the competition is becoming fierce. 12.07.2011
Athira was given only 21 marks by M G Sreekumar for her very good rendition of the song “poonthen aruvi”. Is it the beginning of politics in Idea Star Singer in season 5?
