Kathayalla Ithu Jeevitham

Amrita TV’s Kathayalla, Ithu Jeevitham is a TV courtroom in which real life disputes and genuine conflicts arising in a family frame work are put forward, mediated and settled to the satisfaction of all concerned, through a presentation that has the all drama of  films while retaining the authenticity of  real life.

Slated to be launched on May 29th , this  unconventional concept which has set new standards in social commitment  will be telecast every Saturday and Sunday from 6.30 to 7.30 pm.

Vidhubala, the charming heroine of the `1970s who bid farewell at the height of her career, comes back into center stage after a 25 year hiatus as the anchor/moderator of the show.

This pioneering programme on legal counseling is the 1st show in which the final solution will be legitimized by the KELSA (Kerala Legal Services Authority) seal.

Many families have chapters of strife and  discord somewhere in its history. Most of the time these are petty altercations and minor disagreements which instead of getting settled often leads to unbridgeable rifts for which  the family seeks legal recourse.

While the law is fair and just, it is bounded  within a judicial framework  wherein everything has to be substantiated by proof and corroborated by evidence, which may not be forthcoming in a family feud or marital incompatibility.

Kathayalla, Ithu Jeevitham is a first of its kind Real-Life Real-Time Show which brings together, on a common platform, conflict-ridden individuals, families, siblings, relatives who have shattered their lives fighting court battles over issues which seem to be irreconcilable. It is  a blunt and open discussion of every aspect of the conflict by the disputants and their families, under the mediating influence of the panel of experts and anchor .The expert council consists of famous advocates, eminent psychologists and dedicated social workers.

Kathayalla, Ithu Jeevitham brings under its preview all the problems that sows the seeds of strife in a family: marital disharmony, dowry harassments, divorce cases, fraud, treachery, cheating, ownership disputes, gender discrimination, workplace victimization, paternity suits, cruelty, the problems of old age.

It opens with each complainant giving their version of the affair; next the friends ,family and neighbors of each defendant lends the weight of their testimony to the arguments ; followed by a round of counseling, mediation and negotiation by the anchor and expert panel with the contesting parties, leading to a final settlement of the problem.

Each case concludes with the resolution of the conflict  and the drawing up of an agreement, executed to the satisfaction of and with the full consent of both the parties involved, which will be stamped by KELSA .

A seal of Kelsa will legitimize it to the extent of  making it equivalent to a court order ; the agreement becomes final, binding  and irrevocable, not only legally binding on all the disputants and cannot be challenged in any court of law.

As a CSR initiative, Amrita TV invites Companies to come forward as a Philanthropy Partner and  sponsor Rs 5000 per case, as PRATHYASA NIDHI or Gift of Hope for every case that is settled during the course of the program.

“Katha Alla Ithu Jeevitham”—which actually translates into, ‘Not a Story, But Raw Life’ has a framework wherein socio-legal bodies, NGOs etc join hands with Amrita TV to transform lives full of  hatred and suspicion into a future of mutual trust and faith.

The programme facilitates  a clearing up of the misunderstanding between the contestants in public in a bid to arrive at a mutually acceptable agreement that heals the breach and brings about a reconciliation. “Katha Alla Ithu Jeevitham” is an out-of-court settlement forum where resolution of conflicts is sought through dialogue & discussion in a spirit of harmony and empathy.

Those who like to sell there strife, discords, disputes and conflicts can approach Amrutha TV. But you should ready to fight in public and willing for strong verbal curses. The program Katahayallithu Jeevitham launched by Amrithu TV provides you this golden opportunity. In the name of corporate social responsibility this channel has been telecasting this real life reality show for the last few months. They argued that it is an effort to solve the critical issues faced by laymen which disturbs there personal as well as family life. It branded in a tag line “Not a story – but Raw Life” and proclaimed that it is a – “Real – Life Real Show”.
Obviously, it is a real life show and the contestants have strong vigor with abuse languages. It is really enjoyable to those who have hard and outstanding hearts. It is model to all reality shows. Normally many of the sociologists argued against reality shows. Probably it may right and take away huge amount of money from the contestants. But frankly speaking it gives a fame and media figure to many of them and what lacking is that it ignores the reality. Critics demand that media should take responsibility to bring forward the disadvantaged groups and not the elites who spend lavishly for competitions.
Now the question is who benefit out of this program – Kathayallithu Jeevitham? Contestants, anchors, audience, judges and Producer? This is the apparent difference of this reality show. I supported there caption – “Life is not a drama; but real”. But what drama happens in Amritha TV on every Saturdays and Sundays? There is nothing wrong if people think the participants get large amount for playing in the screen. This amount provides them energy to loudly shout in front of the Camera. I really worried about the fate of these people who were the scapegoat of this drama. May be there hopeless life creped them to this play. Vidhubala who has hardly any business came forward to anchor this catastrophic event. I think it is a humiliation to the humanity those advocates, psychologists and social workers who played inside the curtain of this cinema story. Probably they may not have even any business. The most unfortunate fact is that Kerala State Legal Service Society dances in this drama.

Who thinks this is the platform to solve conflicts and personal strife and who learns lessons from this never ending chapter of this drama. I don’t think the stamps and a seal of KELSA is not enough to find an everlasting solution to strugglers. If Yes, I can bring thousand of people who have trapped in worrisome. I am totally ashamed of all the stake holders of this program. These temporary agreements which is to proclaim the mammoth effort of TV and KELSA is not a permanent solution and this is not a platform to resolve issues. We have well designed and systematic judiciary and platform, courts, evening courts, family dispute resolution centre, dispute resolution forum, mobile courts and this list prolongs. These mechanisms are resolving large number of disputes in every months and this cheap rate program with huge investment resolve limited issues in a year.
I think the action on this moment is those who associate with this program should come forward to resolve issues in different platforms and Amritha TV can constitute a mechanism for there name. This can effectively resolve large number of issues. As a prominent organization and well organized visions in charity people expect such efforts from the media. They should follow the path of Amma not the path of mammon. There is nothing good in adopting all the cultures without considering the values of human and life.

We are expected to admit, learn and promot good shows like ‘Green Kerala Express” a brain child of Sajan – Dooradarshan. It really bring some good efforts of local self governments. This unsung success stories inspire all the people and motivate us to implement the same in our own location. The price money can use for the development of local people. It is hour to think differently and off the face from this type of events.

One of the fantastic program (charity) which I never heard / watch in any TV / Radio channels. thanks to Amrita TV, Anchor and the honorable Judicial members. May God bless you all for your valuable efforts. May God help all those who come for the solution.

    Keep up the good work!

I think this program has to be telecasted in the midnight, because a lot of children and young members are viewing this. And more over it is giving a wrong message to the people, due to the act of the participants.(such as some of the participants are sitting cool after three or four times and saying no evidence is there.)

In our country we are having a very powerful legal system, with family courts in each District headed by eminent District Judges, Lawyers, Family Counsellors and other staffs. Amritha TV need not take the roll of such courts. More over almost all the family problems has to be settled down in camera, not on stage.I am lamenting at the plight of the participants who mingle with the society for their livelyhood.

A fantastic program….thanks to amrita tv.

  10. RILAX says:

I HAVE BEEN WATHCING THIS SHOW FOR SOME EPISODES. WHILE THIS PROGRAM EXPOSES THE REAL PROBLEMS IN OUR SO CALLED WELL KNITT FAMILIES, THERE ARE SOME OTHER POINTS TO BE PONDERED ABOUT.

ESP NOW THERE IS AN EPISODE OF MOHANDAS AND SHIKA. WHILE MOHANDAS WAS EXPLAINING THE PROBLEMS IN THE FAMILY, IT WAS THE ONESIDED VIEW THAT WAS BEING AIRED. AT THE SAME TIME HIS WIFE WAS NOT PRESENT IN THE PROGRAM AND HER PHOTO AND ALL WERE SHOWN IN THE PROGRAM.

THIS IS A HIGHLY DANGEOURS TREND. EVEN THE NEWSPAPERS WONT SHOW THE PHOTO UNLESS IT IS COFIRMED OF A PERSONS CRIME. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTOOD SINCE HER PHOTO WAS SHOWN THEY HAD TO LIVE UNDER “THANAL”. wHAT IF THE PROBLEM IS WITH MOHANDAS AND NOT SIKHA… GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT CRAZY THINGS ARE WE GONNA SEE NEXT…
