Asianet has announced auditions for the fifth season of the music reality show Idea Star Singer.
Entries have been invited for the Asianet Idea Star Singer: Season 5 contest being organised by Asianet and Idea mobile.
Those between the ages of 16 and 35 can participate in the contest.
Applicants should send their bio-data, a CD comprising songs sung by them and a photograph to the address

I am writing this to express my great disappointment at the judges of Asianet’s Ideastar Singer Season 4 music show.
I am very troubled at the conduct of the judges on this show – especially Mr. M.G. Sreekumar and Mr. Sarath. This show is supposed to be an honest competition with fair and unbiased judges. But, throughout this season, and also in the seasons past, these judges have been very unfair to many contestants.
This concern is felt not just by me, or by almost everybody in my community, but, it seems, by viewers all over the world. Viewers everywhere are expressing their disappointment at what is happening with this show, as evidenced by the many comments posted on different websites, including the IdeaStar website: http://www.ideastarsingerseason4.com.
The integrity of a competition rests on the integrity of its judges. If the judges are perceived to be unfair, then the honesty of the competition comes into question. And, by advertising on such a show, the integrity of the advertisers also comes into question – as it would convey that only money is important.
Therefore, we are starting a campaign to convince all Idea Star advertisers to stop advertising on this show until and unless these unfair and biased judges are replaced by judges who are fair and who treat the contestants with respect. And we have started to spread the word that people should not do any business with companies that continue to advertise on this show. We are also starting a campaign to spread the word among Asianet viewers to stop watching Idea Star Singer until these judges are replaced.
This is a good show — watched by Malayalees all over the world — which is being destroyed by unfair and biased judges.

Everyone complains about the judges, but not getting into any details. I think the producers and the channel management should be blamed for any missdoings by the judges. This show is not at par with any other musical reality shows, in terms of transparancy. Life line, Kacherry round and celebrity judges (having no knowledge of music)should be removed. Why the producers/judges choose singers not proficient (or not even learned) in classical music since they knew that there is kacherry round in the semifinals. Look back at the performance of Somudas in the semifinals of season 3. It was heart breaking. I understand that the poor guy have told the producers, during the auditiion, that he has not learned classical music but they said that was not a problem. Let the producers make it (ability to perform kacherry) mandatory during audition stage and see how many good singers they can get. So the idea is to use the commercial potential of such singers as much as possible and then throw them out at appropriate levels of the show so that a creamy layer of constants could make it to the finals. The viewers could have known the real value of the SMS they send for their favoutite contestant had somu gone through the so called grand finale of ISS3. It was clear that Somu had tremendous viewer support, naturally he was kept in the show, but the directors knew that he is going to be a nonsense in the final with the massive support he gets from the viewers. So they used the noblest form of music that needs years of learning and practice to get him out of the final. So contestants…not choose ISS if you can not perform Kacherry. Viewers….not waste money sending SMS as your votes are counted as peanuts.

I have been watching this programme since 2007. I think no body will have any doubt that this reality show is doing its best than any other reality shows (critcis are always there). All who criticise this programme as well as judeges, anchor should make them selves understand that, if any one is remaining in his/her place even after a year, it is only because of that he/she is really eligible for that place other than any. It is the poor ego of we malayalees (not all), not to accept the realities. Any way, critics and criticism are always required for the betterment of any programme. so keep motived with these all criticism and go aheam. goodshow.

It is heard that thousands of applicants have participated at different audition centres. Unfortunately, there visuals with out a judging pannel to hear, was shooted.It is evident that the most busiest and prominent judges (namely the trio)may not be able to hear the talents of all those participated in the auditions.
It should not be the camera man , light boy or any other technician hear and decide whom to go through. Real talents are here denied.
The exceptions somu, sanni or jobhy may not be the example to say it is impartial.
If it is that much genuine clear the anomalies and put forward the names of judging pannel who declared last season and the current audition result that there is hardly a person talented than those currently spar in the event.
it was heart breaking that guys like Preeti, Jayakrishnan, vidya and Anju still going on with the show.
So, is it fair that guys with recomendations of those technicians decide the future of Malayalam music.

I am a humble viewer of this programme .Let me express my sincere congratulations for your sincere efforts taken for the better presentation.
I noticed that idea starsinger season 5 ‘DEEPASIKHA’ started from kasargod to trivandrum. The Arabian sea is seen left side of the holder of deepasikha, instead of his/her right side.When the prayanam comes from kasargod the Arabian sea must be seen to right side of the holder. A viewer may be confused to see the Arabian sea to the left side of the holder of deepasikha, that means the prayanam comes from trivandrum to kasargod. this is a geogrphical error I think.

And try to decrease judge’s comments while editting…..(because we are hearing the same things from previous seasons….)
Please remove MG sreekumar from judging Panel … I also think he is biased and unnecessarily criticizes….

wanted to pint out one thing Star Singer Season 5 introduction Episode.
Some of the Ex contestant was behaving very creepily.. atleast they should know laks of people watching it.. specially sudarsan was horrible.
i hope this time the show will not be bored to the people . please show atleast 6 performance in a day and wind up the program soon . after that you can start season 6 immediately but dragging the show is not good .. try to watch Indian Idol how fast each elimination is happening.. viewers wont get bored at all..
The whole future of “Sreemathi Ranjini” on Idea star singer or any other malayalam tv show depends on her ability to speak malayalam atleast on a subpar level. If she does not perfect the language by the end of this show she can go out of state and do something like fashion designing. I mean seriously, the girl has been in this malayalam tv show for 4-5 years. She better speak right!

Just my viewpoint: I think Star Singer is becoming an overkill to the Kerala TV Bandwidth which every one regrets in the upcoming years.
Folks, A world event like FIFA final was only 3.5hrs of satellite time, But how come asianet is 6hrs. SS is just a sponsor sucker and make viewers idiots. Please try to reduce your time infront of this idiot box show.
My utility level has changed by watching idea star singer since 2007 to date. One thing I have noticed is that an other malayalam channel introduced the musical reality show and some where they had a success but idea star singer clear example of how a reality show can be commercialised and become success (in terms terms of money). In ISS 4 there are some good participants like Nayana, Danny, Sikha etc but none of them even walk through…but some contestant which we all know who were not at all upto to the mark reached the finals. Dear ISS management please look into this seriously. Why should the judges comment on each participant after performance, it clearly indicates the commercial interest in the show. Now we have atleast 20 to 30 reality shows in our finger tips at prime time (Finger tips means Remote in our hand) it is time to change the structure and minimise the commercial ads.
regarding renjini haridas,before the season iss-5 gains momentum
i would request the organiser of the show and related sponsors,only one thing that the host of the show ms.renjini haridas should be removed as at the earliest possible opportunity.we cannot tolerate
anymore this host’s style,mannerisms,language-less said the better about her butler English,the disrespect which she mastered towards
the guest judges and the permanent ones on the chair,combined with
her body language-literally vulgar while engaging the participants on the stage,and the negatives are much more to add here…Yes,it is high time someone like Swetha Menon or other reality show host come into
this wonderful programme.In short,RH is a comlete mess and a misfit.
Here is some clear example that how a participant can be sidelined…
in a reality show. Final of the ISS 4 showcased 5 contestants, the committee has decided to pull out Anju and Vidya after 1st round, for that they played tactical aproach…I do remember one of ranjini’s words to Anju…..”bhagyam kondu evide vare ethi” the same meaning she had given to Vidya also before their 1st performance in front of billions , Is this fair ? the show cleary shows for commercial value and not for musical. I believe Sreenath is the best deserved for ISS 4 title, although happy to watch joby getting a 1 crore worth house. Hope ISS 5 may have a good going without any complaints.
