Asianet to Launch Dedicated Middle East Channel on March 25
Programming tailored to suit the lifestyle of Keralites in the Middle East.
Fresh new content and more opportunities for advertisers.
Dubai/Trivandrum, March 24, 2010: Asianet, the leading Indian television channel with a footprint across the Indian Subcontinent, the Middle East, USA, Europe and South Asia, today, announced the launch of a dedicated Middle East Channel to go on air with a soft launch at 11 am on March 25.
Currently, viewers of Asianet in the Middle East are offered the same programming schedules as that of the flagship channel in Kerala, which has been structured to suit the lifestyle of people residing in the south Indian state.
“There is a considerable difference in the lifestyle of Keralites in Kerala and the expatriate Keralite community living in the Middle East. As the leading and trusted television channel of thousands of Malayalis in the region, we believe that the difference in outlook and aspirations must reflect in our channel’s programming to fully connect with our loyal audience here,” said Mr K Madhavan, Managing Director of Asianet communications Ltd.
The new dedicated 24×7 channel will structure its mainline programming schedule to suit the prime time, as per the Middle East time zone. Thus, viewers in the Middle East can watch new blockbuster movies and all the weekend shows on Fridays instead of having to miss them on Sundays. The timing of other popular programmes will also be newly structured to suit the Middle East residents.
“The new channel also enables us to create special programmes for the Keralites in the Middle East region and provide our advertisers with more convenient time-slots for taking their message to the desired audience,” added Mr Madhavan. “To complement the Asianet Middle East 24×7 channel, we are also planning to establish a dedicated studio to drive our Middle East programming further.”
Asianet, established in 1993 in Kerala, launched its Middle East operations to be closer to the large population of expatriate Keralites in the region in 2000. In addition to setting up a dedicated office in Dubai Media City, Asianet also made strong inroads into radio with the popular Asianet 657 AM, which has extensive listenership across the Gulf region.
Asianet Middle East has a dedicated events team, which organises special stage shows across the Gulf region during festive occasion of importance to the Keralites. Events like Ponnonam, Dance Party and Vishukaineetam have been massive crowd-pullers that brought together Malayalis in joyous celebration with Asianet.
“We have always been committed to stay connected with our viewers,” said Mr Madhavan. “Asianet already has a powerful programming mix already that is focused on life in the Gulf. Programmes such as Gulf Round Up and City Lights give an overview of life in the Gulf. We were also the first to commence dedicated programming for events such as Dubai Shopping Festival, thus serving as a cultural bridge.”
With a an estimated 4.5 million in the Middle East region alone, Asianet is the leader in Malayalam television with two other Malayalam channels – Asianet News, dedicated to news, views and analysis; and Asianet Plus, an entertainment channel catering to the younger audience. The Asianet Middle East 24×7 channel will effectively replace the Asianet channel from Kerala in the entire Middle East w e f 25th March 11 am.
The official launch of Asianet Middle East 24×7 will be held at a gala function to be held in Dubai on April 7, 2010.

Thank you for gifting ASIANET MIDDLE EAST channel to all the Malayalees in the Gulf/Middle East region. We all were very happy to hear this news through Asiant channel and we all tuned to the new frequency to get ASIANET MIDDLE EAST, but there was no announcement through Asianet that you are going to discontinue the other Asianet channels (i.e. Asianet & Asianet Plus).
We have to make a suggestion regarding the most loved/viewed programme ‘Idea Star Singer’ as under :
By showing the IDEA STAR SINGER as a delayed programme (i.e. two days after showing the programme in India), what enjoyment is there for us ? In our opinion, the telecast of this most loved and viewed programme should be at the same time in India as well as other GCC and European countries. By this delayed proramme, we are not able to vote for our favorite contestants. Don’t you want vote/SMS from Gulf viewers ? There will be a huge reduction in Votes/SMS from the viewers, particularly from GCC countries. Hence we request you to please consider transmitting at least the ‘IDEA STAR SINGER’ programme at the same time as is being shown in India.
If this is not possible, we hope at least the FINAL will be shown ‘LIVE’ in India, GCC and all over the world at the same time, so that each favorite contestants will receive lot of SMS and that will help in deciding the right contestant.
I am sending this mail on behalf of Gulf viewers and do not feel that this is my individual opinion.
Shall be grateful if you could please forward this request to the concerned authorities and we look forward to hearing a positive response asap.

We love it asianet with good sound and good picture and good programmes but without any announcement disconnected two channel (i.e. Asianet & Asianet Plus)after launched a new middle east channel.

i think asianet only consider working people.there are so many lke u who are simply sittting at home . our only entertinement was asianet. but now what is this. we are fed up with this cinema . actualy i think house wives are the regular viewers of this programme what i feel is your idea star singer is now something to cheat gulf viewers .that is why now i stop viewng my favorite programme. All my friends are not satisfied with your new channel .7 pm was the previous time for idea star singer .Before ,after watcching this programme only we gone out .I dont think working people spent so much time infront of your channel. They are so much busy.If they so in the previous timing there was retelecast at proper time .so please at least make arrangementsfor us to watch asianet and asianetplus . other wise we spent our life simply sleeping fulltime

There was a mistake in “Hrudayaraagam” programme transmitted on 23.20 (16/08/2010)(Qatar time). Film Vandanam music director is Auseppachen where as the anchor told as Johnson. Johnson is background scorer in that film. please try to avoid such kind of mistakes..!!!
Hi.. Actually Asianet Middle East Chanel is a good channel. But it is boring while compared with Asianet and Asianet Plus. See including me 80% of Gulf malayalees are working peoples and we all are getting free after 6 pm. Try to telecast entertainment programs at that time and please avoid repeating of film telecast on Thursday night and Fridays.

Please give us back our asianet and asianet plus.They were very good channels.Better than any malayalam entertainment channels.Very good compared to Surya,We etc.But Asianet Middle East is very boring with very less Malayali touch and good programs.But thnx for changing the time of Sancharam.

Though late transmissions we were watching only two programs viz Devi Mahathmyam and Idea Star Singer. By changing the timing we are unable to see it. Devi Mahathmyam is now at 5.30PM and we cant reach home by that time. Similarly Idea Star finishes at 10.30PM; after 10 we have to sleep otherwise we cant get up early in morning and reach office on time. Hence please adjust these two programs in such a way that we can watch it in between 7.30 and 10 PM. Also please avoid frequent repetition of songs in musical programs.

I am writing this letter from U.A.E. I am a regular viewer of Asianet Middle East Programmes. Last Tuesday (i.e. on 21st Sept-2010)”CINEMALA” Programme was not telecast. However, it was announced on Monday 20th Sept – 2010 that Tuesday at 8.30 p.m. it will telecast. I am very much surprised why it has not been telecasted as per stipulated day and timing. Such irregularities cannot be tolerated. At least there is a courtesy, you should announce in advance if there is any changes of pre-announced programmes.
Please add kissankrishideepam in the Asianet middle East Channel. We are missing this program now.

I am a regular viewer of Asianet Middle East Programmes and i make sure i dont miss any of the programmes.,,though we dont get asianet and asianet plus middle east is a big relief.Idea star singer,serials, Live gulf greetings and devotional song programmes keep up to the standards…Good work!!!
Hai, I was a regular viewer of Asianet since 1997 when we got cable connection in my Home town. I came to UAE in 2008 and was very happy that I was able to follow those good programmes in Asianet even after reaching miles away from my kerala. But after the introduction of Asianet Middle East, the situation is just the reverse. The major concern is the repetation of the programmes, i.e the films telecasted once are retelecasted and we are forced to see the same movie atleast thrice a month. Even the programmes like star talks, super chef etc are retelecasted twice or thrice. The quality of advertisements was very high in Asianet, but in Asianet Middle East, the Advertisement quality is very poor, and even no single advertisement about products in India, Idont know why you ignore that, the advertisements had really contributed to the colourfulness of Asianet. Another boring phenomina is that every half an hour the programme for the day would be announced and also even between the break for each programme, this makes the programmes really boring. Humbly request you to consider all the points that I have noted here and please understand that this is a real request of a genuine lover of old Asianet. This is hightime for the Asianet team to consider revisiting the programme stratergy and make the channel a good one like our own Asianet. Hope to see something good from Asianet Middle East.

We a group of bachelors hereby quit watching Asianet Middle East since the films you are showing at weekends are too too boring. You show good film on working days. Asianet Middle East is not up to the mark. We prefer Asianet Plus.
ISS season 5 fourth stage first episode is startingwise very good but comments and marks are very poor from celibrities gust. MGS commented to one lady who is from audience(regarding one question) is not a standard bit…all the best for Contestants!!!!!!!!
