Asianet to telecast Ujala Asianet film awards on 30 January

The 12th Ujala-Asianet Film Awards 2010 that was held on 16 January will be telecast on 30 and 31 January on Asianet.

The telecast would be available from 6.30 to 10 pm.

The award function, witnessed by 40,000 people, was graced by several prominent persons from the film industry and socio-cultural spheres.

Pazhasssiraja won the award for the best film while Ranjith won the award for the best director for Palerimanikyam.

Mohanlal won the best actor award for his role in’ Bhramaram and Ividam Swargamanu while Kavya Madhavan won the best female actress award for Banaras.

While Kamal Hassan was felicitated for his outstanding contributions to the Indian film industry, actress Lakshmi Rai was on hand to collect the popular actress award for her outstanding performance in various movies.

Mammootty was honoured as the millennium actor for his outstanding performance in various movies. Oscar award winner Resool Pukutty was honoured on the occasion of his overall contribution to the Indian film industry.

Others who won awards include Prithwi Raj ( Youth Icon of the Year) , Sreenivasan (best character artiste- male), Swetha Menon Sunil (best character artiste-female), Lalu Alex (best villain), Jagadeesh (best actor in a comic role) and Jayasurya-Roma (best star couple).

The event was attended by a cross section of stars from South Indian film industry and have colourful programmes performed by leading Malayalam artistes along with a mix of stars from Tollywood and Bollywood.
