“Autograph” revolves around a group of five high school students – three boys and two girls – whose lives spin out of control, owing to events clearly beyond their comprehension. This is a story of rites of passage – as these children are slowly initiated into adulthood, hopefully wiser from these life-transforming experiences.
All the five teenagers are from well-to-do households and have been nicknamed “Five Fingers” by their schoolmates. They are hugely popular in the school and are well known for their all-round accomplishments in both academic and extra-curricular activities. But, they soon overstep their limits.
In an act of total immaturity, they spread the rumour of the school principal’s death, following his refusal to grant leave to the sweeper. The new school teacher, Nandini Nair, is shocked to hear about the alleged demise of the principal.
Soon, the “five fingers” find themselves embroiled in situations beyond their control, including a murder. Meanwhile, two of them, Rahul and Mrithula fall in love. Thrown, into this melee, is Rani, a new student (again, from a rich and well-connected family). However, Rani, carries the baggage of an unknown past and she is hell-bent on destroying the “five fingers”. The five friends break up into two groups, disappointing their well-wishers and friends. Nandini tries to re-unite the gang of friends.
