The grand gala awards nite, where over 30 awards were presented in various nomination and special categories for films of 2008,comprised the entire galaxy of stars—Mohanlal,Mammooty, Dilip,Jayaram, Thilakan, Sreenivasan, Priyamani, Jayasurya, Roma, Gopika, Chitra, VijayYesudas, Parvathy, Jyothirmayi, Mukta, Mallika Kapoor, LakshmiGopalaswami, Samvritha, Renjith, Major Ravi,cricketer Sreesanth, among others.

‘Thirakkatha’ bagged three Awards, for the Best Film; Renjith, for Director and Priyamani for Best Actor(Female). Mohanlal emerged as the Best Actor(Male) for his brilliant performances; and Mammooty was conferred with a special award for Excellence in Acting, while Sukumari,veteran actor, was bestowed the Lifetime Achievement Award for her decades of contribution to the industry.

The crème de la crème of Mollywood and Tollywood teamed up to make it an unforgettable evening- K.S.Chitra, Jyotsna, Vijay Yesudas, Manjari and Afzal lent music in their mellifluous voices; while Jyotirmayi, Roma, Mallika Kapoor, Mukta, Shaman Kasim , Vinneth Kumar stepped in with foot-tapping numbers under the guidance of choreographer Prasanna Master, dance director of ‘Billu Barber’,complemented by choreo team Jaz Peckers.

The entertainment extravaganza to be telecast on this weekend on Amrita TV, has a unique format, with a comedy duo to keep the audience in splits, a vibrant DJ duo to keep the crowd energy levels high, a delightful anchor pair for the show, and the Awards citation anchored by veteran Malayalam actor, Siddique.
